Oh and isn't she beautiful !!!

And before anyone coins the term, I am hereby offically the first "Niki Dweeb".

If you don't believe me, do a search on this BBS and you will see that I was the first one to ask... no make that BEG... Pyro to model the George instead of the Ki-84.

Thanks Pyro

The N1K2 was armed with x4 wing mounted Type 99-2 20mm Cannon. And I believe (from memory) each gun had 400 rounds of ammunition.

These were the same cannon on the late war Zeke.

Unfortunately these are inferior cannons ballistically (slow rate of fire and low muzzle velocity) when comapared to the German MG151, the English/American Hispano, or even the Japanese Army HO-5 (Ki-84 armament).

However the shells used in this gun, were relatively large, allowing larger amounts of explosive. Which somewhat makes up for the slow rate of fire. Giving the same relative damage over time.

But it will be a plane where you will have to shoot in close and snapshots won't be as effective.

Nice shot,

N1 is an expert's plane. Compresses quickly, so B&Z work is tricky. Doesn't turn or climb well, so escape from a bad pass is tuff. I'd like to see the 61 or maybe a zeke next.

hehe Don't get too excited TT

You are forgetting that the Fw190A8 is going to be introduced at the same time, and it has x4 superior 20mm's + x2 13mm MG's as well.

FYI Using Shaw's Lethality formula +Plus explosive component, and assuming a conservative 50% of explosive energy from cannon shells is applied to an airframe, you get the following Lethality in kilo-Joules from the planes in AH so far.

Me109G10------------------------- 3309/2136/1924/750
(30-x2(20)/20-x2(20)/30/20/)
Fw190A8-------------------------- 2773
Spitfire IX---------------------- 2105/1852
(.50/.303)
N1K2-J--------------------------- 1512
La-5fn--------------------------- 1373
P-51----------------------------- 1322/881

Or if you assume that the x6 .50MG's P-51 as the standard firepower of 1.00 you get the following

Me109G10------------------------- 2.45/1.58/1.42/0.55
(30-x2(20)/20-x2(20)/30/20/)
Fw190A8-------------------------- 2.05
Spitfire IX---------------------- 1.56/1.37
(.50/.303)
N1K2-J--------------------------- 1.14
La-5fn--------------------------- 1.01
P-51----------------------------- 1.00/0.65
(x6MG/x4MG)

Uh, I am doing the N1k2, which is why I posted it up.  Natedog is doing the FW-190, and I'm sure he'll be posting a pic sometime soon as well.

sorry Brick,
but there is already one PTO plane... the P51D was placed there towards late war... mostly clean up work of field strafing and rare escort. several was left there and when the next war broke out they pulled the tarps and sent them to the new front in Korea (sorry I cant spell and I know thats wrong) there was even an acount in WWII that a P51D with a refit of only 4 .50s and 400 RPG and camera equipment as well as location device (simple round hoop or halo on top side of plane) shot down 6 Japanese planes. so there is already one... just it wasnt a strictly PTO.

I thought the red tips were markings, but I discovered that they are supposed to be nav lights.  I will be changing that.
