Oh boy, do I laugh at the whines about the changes from AHI to AHII.
- My system is two years old, was top spec back then and runs AHII just fine at about 43fps at 1600x1200.
- Fuel porking not possible? I never logged off because no front bases were available. Taking off at front bases means getting jumped from above and I hate that. So I just dweeb to 17k from a base a sector away and see who's stupid enough to fly below me. If my limited skills are lacking to kill him I run away like King Arthur and his knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Ni.
- Gunnery. Well, I do miss the exact distance counter, as this also helps a lot to judge closure rate. For the rest it just means to get in closer for a good shot (if you've learned to use the German 30mm, this is NO problem). It also means that sprayers have much less chance of getting me. Fine. For me it is actually an improvement. I can kill people almost as easily as before, but the masses have a much tougher time killing me. Great.
- Graphics. Well they're supposedly better, but who cares anyway. Since Chuck Yeager we're just shooting at a few pixels. How often do you get close enough to actually admire a good skin? I get closer to nice women with nice skins more often than I get close to planes in AHII.
- I never bothered with complaining about the game, but it isn't my life. To all the people who actually get worked up about the game I suggest that they get a LIFE. Still, being able to pretend being a WWII pilot and annoy people by shooting them down is great. Isn't that what it's all about? The occasional good fight with a competent pilot is just the icing on the cake.
- Strat? I just take off and find something to shoot down and try to survive myself. I don't have the TIME for strat. Maybe for when I'm unemployed and/or being unable to enjoy all the interesting things life has to offer. If you enjoy it, fine, but it's not my cup of tea.
