AHII-Hardware T&L
« on: June 25, 2004, 02:23:08 PM »
Hi!

Whenever I start AH2, a message appears : "Your video driver does not support Hardware T&L. It will not be able to run AHII." I have a S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR video card. Any suggestions regarding the problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The video card would have to be replaced.  Hardware T&L does not function in the S3 video cards.

Dear Skuzzy,

Would you suggest any video cards that I could get online? (im not familiar with computer video cards)? Would I have to pay or can I download any? Any replies are warmly welcomed. thanks.

The video card is a hardware device which would have to be purchased and then installed, replacing the current video card.

A good low end card which works fine with Aces High II would be the NVidia FX5200.  Check http://www.newegg.com if you would like to purchase online as they are a highly reputable online store.

Just remember a couple of things.

1)  Remove the video driver associated with the current video card, before physically removing the video card.
2)  Don't bother loading the video driver from the CD for the new card, as it will be an older driver.  Might as well start clean and download the latest driver from http://www.nvidia.com and install it.

Dear Skuzzy,

Sorry to bother you again, but how do I remove the driver before the video card? Also, at nvidia.com, I could find only driver packages that contain or support GEForce FX 5200 as you suggested, not hardware T&L. Is that still valid? I would like to know. Thanks alot!

Hardware T&L is hardware on the video card and not associated with the driver.  The 5200 has hardware T&L support.

To remove an old video driver, you typicaly use the un-installer located in the Add/Remove Programs ICON in the Windows Control Panel.

Dear Skuzzy,

I don't know whats wrong with me or my computer, but I have tried everything you suggested. I have uninstalled all the S3 video card components, but when i run AH2 there is no selection for a video card! its just blank, even after installing the fx 200, etc. Also, i cant seem to get the system to formally acknowledge the FX 200 that i have installed from nvidia.com

Download your drivers and install them, then when you reboot you should be good to go.
