new ideas for gameplay

this might be a crazy notion but imagine if, to play AH you HAD to be in a squad. there would be a recruiting arena where trainers would help newbies to learn the ropes and find a squad that suits them.

the reason for the mandatory squad membership would be that each squad would be assinged a base that they could fly from, as well as a short list of available aircraft.

in this way people would be forced to defend their base to the death and only when they lost control of the base, could they move to another field. although they would need the permission of the base they move to and would be limited to the corresponding plane set of that base, plus they would be under the command of the said base's CO.

Squadrons would therefore have to be much larger (maybe up to 50 pilots per squad) to maximise the chances of the base being populated. If a base had no squadies online then it becomes inactive to the MA untill someone logs on.

these rules would only apply to front line bases and there would be a vast ammount of 'behind the action' depots and supply fields as well as much larger major aerodromes with all planes enabled and bomber squadrons operating from these bases.

As well as this resriction of movement to the individual squadrons, there must be implemented some sort of limited supplies per day. so, if one squadron in particular is spending far too much fuel and ammo, or lossing too many planes then they may find their days flying is over too soon. this would call for more effective flying and better leadership. No fuel porking at bases, or any strating at all except disabling planes in hangers. to cut the enemies supplies you would have to launch deeper insertion mission to hit depots and the like.....

this idea is only forming as i type, would anyone like to carry on? or am i typing total gyberish? it is 6.20am here :)

Only if I can be in Gryffindor.  I'd hate to be stuck in the Slytherin squad, those guys are jerks.

the only issue i see is that you can have a full squadron on at one time fighting for say, the rooks. And the base they attack might only have the 2 newbies from a bishop squadron. And you have 3 squadrons half the map away that cant do a thing.

If everyone was online all the time, your idea would be fantastic. but because of free choice, well... we just cant have that.

If you have a solution im all ears.

That would be cool for a different arena. Kinda like TOD. It could be a variant of the types of gameplay there are. Maybe an arena that implemented that style of gameplay only? That just would not work in the MA. Newbies would be in this TA for a long time. Most people don't like to recruit newbies either, some do, and there is nothing wrong with that. You just have to think of everyone. There would be a mass ammount of newbs, and not enough trainers to "inspect" each one. It'd be better to use this in a smaller arena like CT, only it would use this type of gameplay, and not be called the CT. ;)

i suppose i have no solution in reality.

but i will continue to believe that one day we (the players and HTC) may be able to create more than this already superb game.

imagine virtual reality headsets............

:aok

(PS: untill this day comes, i will satisfy myself believing that i might one day find Shane when he DOESNT have an altitude or E
advantage over me :lol )

In a perfect world it'd work.

Howabout instead of just one base, a couple, or a "Front". Or islands.

Wanna sit down with some coffee/tea and discuss it? I'm up late and I got work at 10am, so, in the PM?
