A Knight in a Lancaster was bombing a Bishop base last night from approximately 20k,I climbed up to kill him but before I could reach his altitude he wasted our base and ran for knitlandia.

I pursued him while climbing, when I was almost co-alt and gaining on him the bastage decided to bail out to deny me the kill. <hadn`t closed enough to shoot yet>

He *didn`t* get away with this chickenshit action though,I pursued him down and made firing passes on him-killing him before he touched down.

IMO he deserved it-as an added bonus near by was a knight C 47 going for the base the Lancaster had leveled,I whacked him and a chog who were in the area. <G>

Shooting chutes has nothing to do with malice or hard feelings...at least not for me.  I do it for the sheep.  I've met these K'niggits and Rookies up close, and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty.  I think I know what they're capable of when left alone with farm animals, and if you were humane you'd be blasting them in the silk too!

Awww... Come on....
I shoot chutes, your right IT IS JUST A GAME!!! get over it. Chute shooting hardly leads to poor sportsmanship, or any real life problems. and it IS part of the game.

If it just a game it should be really ok if you are punished for shooting the chutes because it is just a game.

Chute shooting was not standard practice during WWII and it should not be here either. If you did shoot chutes all the time, I doubt that would have effected you career adversely. This might be simulated by perk point penalty.

I hope HTC has courage (or more propable time) to set perk point penalty for chute killing. I think this would send a clear message that it is not nice behaviour. You could still do it but you would never gain access to perk planes. Fair game ain't it?

I don't see what the hell the big deal is. You can take it like jihad does who is erked he didn't get the kill but the lanc still stood a chance of killing him had he not bailed. you don't get anything for killing a chute except for less ammo. however I still kill them if I feel I need to such as when I don't want him seeing my fleet or c47 iam protecting. a chute is still an effective observer. Sometimes leaving the guy in a chute is a better choice, He's stuck there till he hits the ground and thats more of a delay till he gets back in a plane/vehicle. Killing a chute is typically a waist of ammo so if I kill a chute I either have a good reason to or I just feel like an ownry ol bastage.

I don't usually waste the ammo any more unless the chute is hangin in the air and possibly reporting the goings on of our operations.

I do absolutley LOVE nailing a chute or better yet a free-fall pilot with the CV's 5" guns though!

I've created  30+ formation of Bombers and Fighters in AH, and have had the raid ruined by a chute spying on our formation leaving the airfield, reporting back the direction of our A/C, the direction of Goon taking off, etc. That is why I will continue to shoot any chute that opens high, or fails to exit once landing on the ground.

crying about chute-shooting should be a wake up call for you!! it is a sign for to think about your ego -

what is it that really gets you? its that someone is giving you the slap-down and you lost!! and there's nothing you can do about it - if that bothers you then you could probably use some humilliation  -  it happens to everyone get over it

I don't see what the big deal is on chute-shooting.

Actually, I've seen claims from the LW that there was a lot of chute-shooting by the Americans in 1945 (of course, anything from any side regarding that must, of course, be treated skeptically)...it's hard to overestimate the impact the Malmedy massacre during the Bulge had on all US forces..there really was a "give no quarter" attitude after that.

It would be kinda cool if you had a "backup" chute, like modern parachutists do. That way, you could bail at 20k and pop the chute and be an arty spotter, and if a plane came at you, pop the chute off and fall fast and away so he couldn't hit you. Then pop the backup just before landing.

Besides, how many of us have laughed our arses off when someone trys to shoot our chute and augers!

I still like the idea of a `no icon' on the chute or the player once they touch down. I can imagine everyone flying over their airfield looking for the little bastige! Time to grab an M-16 and go hunting!

Of course, if you bail into water, and don't warp back to the tower within 5 minutes, you should drown! Or HT should give the 'bail out' dude a Mae West so we can spot em in the water! Maybe they can just model the upper Torso when you bail on water and make splash's as you 'swim' across it. I am rapidly digressing. It would be funny to see though.

Hmmm.   I'm curious.

Why would they have taken the time to make them shootable targets in the first place if they didn't want to provide that as an option?  Why didn't they just make it invulnerable?

And if so, why would you think their opinion has changed on the matter?
