There are many cards on the market and I was wondering what is the best card for AH2. I would like to run it on fullest resolution and color settings.

Radeon X800 XT

As the game stands now it is VERY CPU DEPENDANT. Your best bet for an AH2 video card would be any 256 meg card above a 9600 radeon, a 256 meg 9800/9800 pro would be great....the x800 would be total overkill...and you would see no improvement.

Currently I have AH on an AMD 2300+ with an old Geforce4 ti 4200 and also on my AMD 2500+ Barton with a Radeon 9800 pro.....puter # 2 kicks puter #1'a butt by 2-3x in most games...but in AH its only a 20% difference and the FSAA is off on the Geforce.

why a 256mb video card?
I have not seen the memory usage go above 100mb in any situation so far.

128mb will do, not only that, but manufacturers almost always use faster ram in 128mb cards, so they turn out to be faster than 256mb cards in most cases.

You have then not set your texture size to 1024...and seen the planes (the ones that are finished like the p51) in full glory

I have it at 1024, with most detail settings leaning over best, and still. Not even Far Cry or UT2004 use over the 128mb standard.

Why a 9800 XT when you can buy an X800 Pro for probably less?
