Question for Roscoroo...
« on: June 29, 2004, 10:00:36 PM »
I know that you build cars (race cars)... Do you do any work with turbos?

I am putting together a twin turbo setup on my foxbody Mustang and am looking for a few parts... I figured I'd ask before I looked around and started spending more money elsewhere...

Thats about it right now.

Thanks.

duals can get down right pricy .. its cheaper to toss a procharger on it .

I'll look in the books tomorrow and get ya some prices for kits ect .  single or twin intercoolers ? and then you have to add at least 3 inch downpipes off the turbos so they spool up better .

I did a Basini kit last year but darn that puppy was pricy 6500 or so . email me if ya want  and ill get some manufacturer listings for ya .  Roscoroo@hotmail.com

ive got a friend thats burning puter chips for alot of that stuff also
(He's a Boeing Elec engineer ) and help me finish seting up the stage 2 buick i did a few years ago .. 950hp v-6 that runs high 8's on a single turbo .

oh yea gotta post drool pics too ...

I can't tell the '66 from the '67 without seeing the rear.

I think you're right, the front of the '66 was a bit more rounded than the '67.

I was going to go with a big single... Like T76. The one thing I like about twins is they spool up faster than a single. I am basicly building the same exact kit that Incon offered for a 1/4 of the price. I will post pics as soon as things start coming together. Right now I am doing a ton and a half of tig welding to fit the alum intake pipes and the down pips for the exhaust. The car will hopefully run in the 9s with no problem... Right now I have a 351 Windsor bored and stroked to 408 that I built forced induction with 9:1... Streetable again... On motor last year it made 463rwhp and 497 ft lbs of tqe. So as you can imagine I am more than anxious to see what my gains will be with a TT setup. Which was 2 years in planing now from the rear end to engine. (All basicly built to have the pizz beat out of them)

What I really need now is a boost timing retard. MSD makes a nice one. You dont have one laying around do ya? :D I also need an FMU... I have one but I hated the way it was made... And was un-adjustable so it ended up being a 60 dollar part that got thrown in the corner of the shop never to be found.

I know more than anyone that going with ATI Procharger would be cheaper, easier, and less hassel but I've seen maybe 4 or 5 cars here on the street or the track with TT's... So I opted to go this rout. Plus I love the sound of them when they spool up. :p Not that ATI isn't a loud blower!

This is darn near what my set up will look like when all is said and done with in the next month to 2 months.

This guy has the turbos pointed differently than I do but thats only due to the kind of header he is using to bolt his turbo on. They are Garrett T42s rated from 500-1000 HP. I wish I had a flow chart handy because they give very impressive numbers! If I told you what I paid for these two tubos you'd think I was crazy so I'll just say that I got them for next to nothing. The most expensive thing so far was the spearco intercooler that I paid 600 bucks for!

Header wrap is evil...a sure fire way to destroy a perfectly good header in a relatively short amount of time. It doesn't allow even dissapation of heat, especially when it gets wet.  The metal will become very brittle.  Learned this from personal experiance unfortunately.

Ceramic coat 'em for sure.

I've always been a fan of Ceramic coated headers myself. For one they look great, and two they do cut down on engine bay temps.
