Sweaty Palms in a fight....
« on: June 30, 2004, 04:21:21 PM »
Sounds nasty....But does anyone elses hands and nerves get going when they're in a fight? especially a fight against multiple enemies by yourself?  Man I had one this morning..2 actually but 1 in particular where I found my self alone and ALOT of bad guys. Totally defensive the whole fight and just dodging and bobbing and weaving , but MAN it was fun. Not a kill did I get but I found it to be just about as much fun as killing 2 or 3 against 1. Simply because I lasted longer than I ever expected to.

Just wondering if I'm the only nasty hand here.:lol

You arent the only one. I grip the damn stick so hard my hand hurts after flying for only a little while. I had to go so far as get a HOTAS because i was breaking the twisty sticks. I like the X45 because it takes my abuse and when the hand gets all sweaty the rubber grips make it bearable to still fly

Ditch your Spit5 and try a Thunderbolt. I had to install a fan inside my joystick.
Dat jugs bro.

Hell ya,

If the heart aint racing and I'm not on the edge of my seat, I'm bored to death lol.

I love fighting 3 v 1, seems like a good match up, keeps you on your toes, constant action.  Even better when you kill em all too lol.

Usually get that way fighting the 13th TAS, that's about it. Actually had several fun fights last few nights, enjoyed it. Thanks to those who actually engage and let it all hang out.

This is a good thread!

When I started out in AH I had the impression that the most important thing was to "survive". I adapted my playing style to this, flew fast planes and ran when I didn't have a clear advantage.

It's different now, these days I seldom fly the runner planes and happily dive into situations where I probably will get killed. I'm having more fun too!

I have to clean my stick from gunge ever once in a while. I get sweaty palms and that makes dirt build up on the stick and buttons. My throttle is metal with a layer of black paint, I have worn off some of the paint due to sweat and friction. I have worn out my view hat switch too.

I'm sure that most players would get more fun out of fighting, even if they probably will die if they do.

Guys that run 1 or 2 sectors when they see a higher enemy can't have much fun, now can they?

Ussually about the time we pass on the first merge I can tell, ohoh, this is no easy fight. You're playing with a killer here. Heart skips a beat, throat gets kinda dry.

Then for the next 18 hours compressed into 2.3 minutes its all about flying. OMG your shooting that green crap at ME! The heck you say!

The fight is the important thing, Everything else takes back seat to that.  Your sitting there, trying to get around on him, racking your brain for ideas. Gasping for air, afterimages racing though your brain. Yeah sweaty palms, hearts raceing, out of breath, feel like I just ran a marathon & aged 10 years all at the same time.

Its the best feeling in the world at times.
You are as ALIVE as your going to get.
Fear is courseing through your veins, immersion is complete, he is going to KILL YOU,  if you don't kill him first.

Afterwords when its over, your still alive,
(plane may be dead) that feeling is sweet also.  Shaky, sweaty, and trembling, you know you have measured yourself against the best. Win or lose
there is respect there on both sides.
Because it could have so easily gone either way. You have been to the top of the mountain and returned to tell the tale, life is sweet.

Hehe. I Have to have a bottle of windex to wipe down my stick every few hours. I like the fights where ya cant keep turning cause your hand is burning from fatigue. Grab a zeke and fly into bad odds...they will all pick on you lol..after first passes by 3 or 4 they get upset that they miss and start getting brave. If ya get one its a plus..but count every miss by the enemy as a victory. Now that is fun!..except for the dying part, but u will learn alot about acm's.

Nice Replys guys...I to have to clean my Joy Stick about once a week at least. Sometimes 2 depending on weekend fly time. I tell you..I used to constantly worry about just surviving..now its dive in...and try hard...Especially in AHII right now since those of us that aren't that good are still learinig all at the same time.

It's a blast ....and I am having a great time. My wife shakes her head and just giggles at me...While I'm talking to the computer. "Ohhhh no you won't..Been there done that dweeb..not goona work on Da Kid" ..or.."Climb that rope? You have got to be kidding me...Dream on sukaaaaa......ooooooops.I did and didn't mean to..DANGIT!!!!!"How ya like that 20mm Dweeb!!!!.....she just laughs

You know....it's a shame more people couldn't get as much enjoyment from something so really harmless as this. Instead of Drugs and other stuff. Wouldn't it be awsome to have like...1000's on at a time? HUGE War!!!!! Oh the thoughts.
