if a fuel tank gets hit, does it blow up plane now? ive had some fuel hits do this and some not, not very consistent.

not necessarily, I've rtb with a fuel leak no problem, it's when you catch fire you are doomed, you have about 60 seconds then.

Its not exactly 60 seconds, it depends on the damage, plane, altitude and other variables.
