How about we just find out why some people are having problems and fix that?

Ummm.....Where to begin......

What differentiates arcade from tactical gaming is not graphics, it is gameplay. That general term includes play balance (so it's challenging but not impossible), serious attempt to model realism, and the necessity of making choices that have impact on play. For example, Quake, having power ups and frenetic action but little strategic goals or consequences, is a very good action/arcade type game.

AH 1 bears no simularity to an arcade game, in any way, shape or form.

Technologic advancement in games requires an engine, on which eventual game design is constructed. Skuzzy et.al. needed to design an engine which gives a sound and effective basis for future expansion. This is a small company which has limited resources, so expecting them to have both server and bandwith support for two products simultaneously is  unreasonable and unrealistic.

AH2 is not finished, and whether you want to call it ready or not depends on your grasp on the competing demands inherent in the situation. The transition HAD to be made, and the timing involved judgement calls -- that included business and financial considerations we frankly have no idea about. Skuzzy and HTC have supported it as best they can, with dedication even to the point of taking time that they probably don't have to answer emails from nobodies like me. I'm no cheerleader, but --- people, be reasonable, and don't compare this situation to the release of a boxed product. The situations have VERY little in common.
Maturity is knowing that I've been an idiot in the past.
Wisdom is realizing I will be an idiot in the future.
Common sense is trying to not be an idiot right now

 ....

Whatever problems with AH2 HTC will have to solve it over time, or, maybe somethings will not be solved at all.

Maybe they could have done a better, more simple job if they just made AH2 stable on a short range of systems, like FB/AEP which is recommended at P4 2.0Ghz and 1024 ram, 128mb video card to even THINK about running at 'perfect' settings.

But they chose to still let age old systems like Pentium 3s, which is at now at least 3 years behind the tech curve, have a shot at running AH2. In a word, they could have just dumped a lot of us, and made this game state-of-the-art, but did not choose to do so.

As a AH enthusiast, being patient is the LEAST we could do, to let thank what AH experience has brought to us. You think HT and Pyro are at office slacking away when people complain how they can't run things? They're probably more stumped and upset than anyone of us right now.

So cut this whiney crap and sit back and wait. AH2 is 1 month old. HTC is gonna stay this course, and I support it fully.

Yes it will eventually get resolved.
No the whining wont stop.
Its all a part of the process. Always has been...Always will be.
Love it or hate it..thats the way it will be. HTC should understand this better than anyone else. Theres nothing wrong with a costumer telling the merchant the he/she feels like they been ripped off. The BBS is the cheapest way to convey the message. Its not likely that someone feeling ripped off is going to spen additional money for a phone call when they can do it here for free. The next logical step is account cancellation. Some will end it...some will not

I have seen this many times in posts...I have to ask, is that the case?  How did they run AH and AHII Beta for so long?

I can run AHII as it is now with no problems at all. Had a blast in AH since Jan. of this year.  Love AHII as well...but really, they can't run both is this true?

If both were up - I would play both...AH would die naturally as everyone upgrades their computers and population of AH "upgrades" to AHII.

What are the extra bandwidth and server expences?  It appears they have the servers...bandwidth, wouldn't it be about the same?

I don't know...techies enlighten me

 It doesn't happen that way.

What you see in online games, is people who get used to the first series stick to it for such a long time, that it deters the advance of the next series. It ultimately harms the business.

Kweassa, I happen to be one of those you are discussing that doesnt give a damn about gameplay.

NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE would play this game if all they wanted was graphics. I run my game on low settings even though I dont have to. I just want to be able to dogfight.

Ive played Air Warrior I, II, and III. I still bust out Wolfenstein on a weekly basis and get my fill of killing nazis. Hell, I even play pacman all the time.

You're one of the old guys if you've been around to play AWDos or Castle Wolfenstein.

What I'm talking about is the kids, still in schools, with their first flight sim experience being something like IL2/FB or MS FS2004. People like us, remember the days of 'Chuck Yeager's Aircombat' or 'Aces of Pacific'.

The current customers of AH are adults, who lived through 70s and 80s. We're getting older, and soon the people who grw up in the late 90s and still growing up at the new millenium, are gonna become potential customers in the next five years.

And by the way, I hold a job, I pay for Aces High, I bought every component for this computer, and I also built it myself. Im sorry, but your remarks are uncalled for, and you have made the false assumption that my generation has lost sight of what makes anything good.

Where did I ever say you've lost sight of what makes anything good?

All I said was that preferences greatly differ between generations. To most of us playing AH currently, we like it better than IL2/FB or so because we like the game itself and how it is played out.

To the younger generation who have been baptitized and bombarded with visual technologies since birth, graphics is essentially part of the gameplay. No matter how fun it is, they not gonna be interested in it if there's another contendor with better graphics available. It's how the gaming world goes. The gaming world to the PC industry, is what the military is to science - there is a constant rush to keep up with the tech curve, and this tendency grows by the day, as more and more powerful systems become cheaper and cheaper.

 We're becoming ancient, dudes.

I can't attack gv's anymore.  I can't go to furballs anymore.  Can't fly near the ground anymore.  Heck, I can't even fly over field bases anymore.  All of these will stutter/freeze up my screen.  (all sliders to performance and in F3 mode)  And my system is in the middle.  Not even close to the "min" requirments.

Take the eye candy and pitch it in the trash.  I JUST WANT a smooth flying experience.  SOMEWHERE in the CODE all this "new" implemented stuff is just flat out not working.  Together anyway.  I am willing to wait (for another week or 2 anyways) but for myself, this is horrible.  It's like being addicted to heroin, and only getting methodone.  KINDA works to take the edge off, but I really need my flying fix.

Dang, I even considered Warbirds today.  WARBIRDS!!! MY GOD! THE HORROR!!!

Can I trade my wife for Sharapova?  Now THAT is Eye candy.

The movie was very cool. I said i liked it. But the moviemaker as i said is interested in HTC taking a look at it. It is obvious that he might hope that HTC would consider using it for something special. Like Advertisement or something of that nature. Yes i thought there might be a few things he might consider in making movies that could be used to appeal to a larger audience. (Prospective AH2 Subscribers come from all walks of life. And very in age range from prolly 10 years old to 70 years old.)

whines per se. will never get anything done faster. It actually depends on who does the whining. But what a great place to be heard. Got you to respond.

Well now.. That’s the funniest thing i ever heard. :rofl
Doesn’t say much for that squad’s commitment to the game or HTC does it. BTW...Im not inclined to believe you on this matter. We want names here. I will personally apologize to the Squad and their CO and promise not to make them read the BBS anymore. Because we know they didn’t read it in the MA...As i rarely complain about such things in the MA. Not NEVER...just very rarely. While i whine. My subscription is being paid every month.
And now you whine is noted. Good Job. You too will be a quality whiner on AH BBS if you keep practicing.

I dunno, mugz. To reach professional level whining, the guy would at least have to get readers to be able to FOLLOW the ridiculous logic. This guy's gotta work on his syntax and grammar to really be a contender.:lol
