It isn't European food at all - it's Indian (although it has been Anglisized I should think). 'Jalfrezi' means 'Dry Fry' and is basically your standard curry sauce with tomatoes, red peppers (although I prefer both to be in there) and chopped chilis. There's always a large dose of coriander as well. Here's a picture:

Turkey and cranberry? Nice. We only have Christmas for that kind of thing - I think we should get more holidays like that. We work too hard in this country - all the other Europeans work much less hours and still have the same standard of living.

One thing they have on the continent is space. England is so crowded it's silly. OTOH France is a *really* expensive place to live (20% VAT!). When I make my millions, I'm going to retire to New Zealand.

Yeah! Birmingham is the balti capital of Britain. I have a friend who lives near there (he supports Kidderminster Harriers I think), he keeps trying to get us to come down and sample the balti houses down there. Might get there one day.
