Ack Tougher or Weaker?
« on: July 06, 2004, 09:58:33 AM »
Can't hit diddily (or squat either) with AH II ack.

You find ack tougher now or easier to evade?

Planes fly right over my gun and ... no hits.

Occasionally get kills, but nothing like before in AH I.

Anybody got a bootleg case of AH I shells for sale?

Field ack is less effective, when manned anyway, than it was in AH I.  The adjusted gunnery hit bubble appears to be affecting it as well as in-flight gunnery.

As for ship-ack, it appears to be affected as well.  I don't man the 40mms or 20mms, so I can't say for certain that they have been affected by the new gunnery.

The 5" guns on the carriers and cruisers do NOT appear to be affected however...ahem.  Love to man them when the nme is "swarmin' an reuppin'" around a fleet.

Carriers do appear to be more vulnerable to air attack, which may result from less effective anti-aircraft fire.

My thoughts anyways.

Yeah the 'killable' cv guns were originally a good idea. All that happens now is hoards of 110s strafing them down.
Oops better be carefull that might qualify as a whine.

Kev... You stated an opinion "Yeah the 'killable' cv guns were originally a good idea." Then you stated a fact in the same paragraph "All that happens now is hoards of 110s strafing them down.

While stating an opinion then backing it with a fact qualifies as a  simi whine. After...and ONLY after you are treated with disrespect (Like being called a liar or if someone makes a cute/rude remark to you) and you decide defend your self...Then and ONLY then is it a Whine in the legal sense. ;)
Oh...i still like the killable CV ack thingy. Guess we have to roll up our sleves and defend the CV from a little more alt.
PS....just was having fun. :rofl

OR...........have the CV's armed with the CORRECT gun batteries:rolleyes:  that can be manned.
Should be NO less than twenty, 40mm Bofers twin & quad mount AA guns. Along with 15-20 20mm & .50cal mounts.
Then your 5" and larger calibur guns through out

Typical gun armament (in 1944)
12 x 5-inch 38-cal. dual-purpose (4 x 2, 4 x 1)
68 x 40mm. AA in quadruple mounts [That's 17 mounts]
70 x 20mm. AA in single mounts

it seems to me(from the air anyways) that ack is both more and less dangerous.  It seems to hit a lot harder, however it's also easier to avoid.

Manned ack seems to be a hell of a lot weaker now that they are no longer invisible.
