I went on-line the other night, first time ever. After practicing off-line in both WB & AH for a year or so.

Wanted to build up ace flying skills before exposing my self to the AH-world, - - ofcourse I did not manage to get that

And I got smacked, wacked, shot down i flames and had to read in the radio buffer who killed me.

Did not see a thing before I hung in the chute.(I even got what I think you call vultured - Killed on the runway? - in the training arena)

But, what a thrill it was! Yeeehaaaa!Flying around with real people.

I think I've got myself a,new,"bad habbit" besides the fat food, smoking and redwine drinking (Btw, some nice ones from the US westcoast!)

Just wanted to share this with you!

Kindest Regards

Jay-Jay

Heheh

This sim will grow on ya. Been here since Tour 2 or 3, and not tired of it yet. Be prepared to die a lot the initial two weeks; this sim has a very steep learning curve. Don't get discouraged; you'll get the hang of it and start killin' on a regular basis.

There are also trainers available who can take you up for a pin and give some good tactical, ACm and SA awareness tips. They'll be needed   .

If you are flying for the Rooks sor the Bishops; prepare to die, inferior sub human peasant! My 109 shall spread death and destruction on your body in a fashion that you haven't experienced before. I shall tie your intestines to your prop and kick you out of the cockpit. Even your sheep won't rcongize you after my 30mm rounds hit you when you dangle in your chute.

If you're Knight; welcome to Knightlandia, where the sheep are both willing and fluffy, and all people friendly and pacifist altruistic lovers of humans.

Well StSanta, I better be a Knight then, don't sound nice with that 30-mm thing

But why are you hanging on to LW planes? Most people goes for US-fighters, it seems.

If I'd should choose now, it was the P-47 or the P-38.

The P-47 because it should be able to withstand serious damage (In real life, that is. Read that it could RTB with one or two cylinders shot to pieces. Also read that the word among british pilots was that you allways couls escape an enamy by running around in that BIG cocpit)

And the P-38 'cause it's looks like nothing else, the firepower and the counter rotating propellers making it "easy"   to fly for a rookie like me. And I think that Howard H. did a great job with this plane

LOL straffo   JU-88 is great for dive bombing pesky Ostwinds

Aaaah the Luftwaffe!

Why do I fly for the LW?

Well, first off all, they're EVIL. If given an opportunity, I *always* play as the bad guy - there are enough good guy heroes out there   .

Secondly, their planes looks decidedly vicious. Angry, evil, they look like they wanna bring harm and hurt and will enjoy doing so. The 109G10 is so ugly it's beautiful. The 190's are the most aesthetically pleasing planes of WWII, I think.

Then there is the fact that all allied pilots  are OPPORTUNISTIC SCUM no skill head on PEASANTS! BAH!   .

And, of course, I am a proud member of 9./JG 54 "Grünherz", and we fly LW only.

Also, there is an element of "underdog" to it - the G10 is certainly a capable plane and great for 1v1, but in main arena, it isn't the best for quick kills due to terrible high speed handling, poor roll and turn rate, bad trim characteristics and relatively bad armament. The 190A5 is outperformed by most US boom and zoomers except at low altitudes, and the 190A8 is quite a bit worse in a dogfight than virtually any plane in AH   .

So, I get to be evil, an underdog, fly the best looking planes, and call allied pilots "schweinhunden!". I also get to yell "ATTACKE" and "ZUM ANGRIFF!" on Roger Wilco, and hear my squad mates speak German. Very immersive   .

Why anyone would wanna be allied, I don't know, gotta be those cannons

You were able to keep a straight face when you wrote this?:"Also, there is an element of "underdog" to it - the G10 is..."

Nah real men fly the 109G6, it has all the G10's flaws but then again it can still speed away from a 202 and zekes on a good day.

PS: Don't go Knights, they are not very nice

Thanks for joining Jay-Jay!

While the P47 is a great ride, and currently my ride of choice, you will find it a more challenging plane early in your online career.  The Jug only really shines at high altitude, and almost none of the fighting takes place up there in the arena.  It is very tough, but generally you are better to not get hit instead. <G>

If you like the Fork Tailed Devil (P-38), it is your best option starting out.  The FTD has the advantage of counter-rotating props as you mention that makes torque much easier to deal with.  The big bonus is the FTD is easily the best all-around plane in the arena.  While it is not necessarily the very best at any particular type of fighting, it can do pretty much everything reasonably well.  You can be competitive in the 38 no matter what your situation.  Additionally, the FTD has all center mounted guns, which means that you don't have convergence issues and makes gunnery a bit easier.  All great things to take advantage of while you are learning this GREAT game.

Also, take advantage of the training staff.  Either jump in the training arena for some help anytime, or arrange to meet a trainer at a specific time for some personal training time.  Email myself or any of the trainers and we'll get you set up with a trainer who can meet you at a convenient time.

Welcome to our world....and Godspeed!

There is certainly a learning curve present, so don't get discouraged.

Btw...don't bother listening to St. Santa....he runs short of a few cylinders and is an easy kill as well....Fly for the Bishops and learn from the best

I'm Out!

PS...Ask around...rooks and knights always team up and attack the Bishops...it's very simple....they fear us!

jayjay p-47 an p-38 are currently the two worst aircraft in the game if they do not have a serious altitude advantage they die oh so fast.

the only thing that the p38 out turns is the p47 and the p47 cant turn at all.

p38 locks up quicly in a dive has weak guns that require a long tracking shot

p-47 does one thing... dives fast initially. then it gets caught after it dives and gets blown up. it has lots of ammo to spray but that ammo takes more hits than cannons do to do damage.

most everyone drools when they see either of these planes flying co alt or below because they are so easy to kill.

fly the super rides like the n1k2 and f4u1c.
you will find killing much easier.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

what citabria said
i would never tell a newbie to fly a p38, like signing his detah warrant
then again, best way to learn is to learn in a crappy plane, but this only work si fthe pilot doesnt mind dying alot in the beginning. Otherwise, take a N1k.
