Sound questions..
« on: July 06, 2004, 11:40:44 AM »
Runnin AC'97 sound here.. Still having stuttering issues unless I run my sound acceleration at the 'Basic' level.. At this setting I only can get sound from 2 speakers. It works and all but im not so happy with it. I wanted to buy a video card before purchasing a sound card for my computer. I only have to adjust my sound settings for AH.

My question to HTC..

Is there a way to produce some in-game sound settings? Perhaps limiting the amount of sounds that would play at any one time? Kinda like the video adjustments that we have.. If the number of sounds that can play could be limited, wouldnt this clear up the sound issues some folk are having with on-board sound?

I still have an old Diamond Mx-300 card.. It has worked well in the past.. Any limitations for this card and AH2??

thanks in advance..

Excellent idea. We should have option to turn off all sound extensions and use only basics. Kinda like IL2 has.

That would solve lot of problems.

Diamond Monster MX300 soundcard should work well with AH2.

Had one for four years and performed very well.

Other night I reduced my sound accel. to 1/2 (down two notches) and was booted out of the game 3 times that night.  Twice near a cv (possible all three.  don't recall)

I pushed it back to 3/4, logged back in, and no boots ever since.
wierd.  Mine is a SB Live. but I'm curious why your not at 3/4.

I still get stutters just as bad at 3/4 as I do at full acceleration.. I have to go down 2 notches to Basic accerleration for there to be no stutters..

Seems others with sound cards are  seeing stutters too.. Still others with the same sound as me AC'97 are not seeing stutters.. I'm glad I did not rush out and buy a sound card..

Skuzzy??? Any comment on perhaps some 'sliders' for sound acceleration on an in-game menu???? HTC?????

I too have AC-97 onboard (C-Media), and have had probs with a couple of other games; gpl for one.  However, after searching the web, decided to give the latest realtek drivers a go.  Since installing these, system has been problem free at full acceleration.  If you fancy giving them a go yourself, they can be found here: Realtek Drivers

Please note, that I accept no responsibilty whatsoever for their use - I am only sharing what worked for me.

FYI, before install I created a restore point, cleaned out old sound drivers and ran Driver Cleaner 3.2 to hunt out any remaing files.

Hope this may be of use.

I thought I read to just install the new drivers over the old sound drivers.. I thought I read that on the Realtek website.. I know that generally this is not the proper way to install new drivers.  Wonder if one should really do the driver cleaner thingy.. I so hate to use software the I'm not for certain to need..
