Zone Alarm
« on: July 07, 2004, 08:57:26 PM »
Greetings  :)  need assist in proper handling of Zone Alarm as it pertains to new patches to AH2.  Each time I load a new patch
I've to allow access to aceshigh.exe on Zone Alarm.

I open ZA (Zone Alarm) by opening "Restore ZoneAlarm Control
Center", open up "Programs" my aceshigh.exe progs all have the
green check marks signifying that AH2 has access past ZA.

My problem is that everytime I wish to play, after I login & click OK
my screen freezes & I can't do anything!!

Can some1 pls show me (list) the steps you use for easy access
to ZA without any hassles from start to finish.  Thank you.

Right mouse button click the aceshigh.exe and check "Changes Frequently".

or when you click to log on, and it freezes, type   r y  , it should release it to continue connnecting, if not it might pop up a small window and you can hit the tab key then hit the enter key and it will release it.......

think it all depends wether you running free version of zone alarm verses zone alarm Pro Version.........

When it hangs up, type "ry" (ie, hit the "r" key then the "y" key).

you have to reassign access everytime the .exe changes with the freeware Zone Alarm, if you have ZA pro, you can set the "changes frequently" option to eliminate the problem.   The key board shot cuts mentioned here should do the trick.

Thanks every1 for ur help, my apologies, I forgot to mention that
I've ZoneAlarm the FREE Version.  I'll try ur recommendations, it's
just that after the login to AH2 & clicking OK EVERYTHING freezes
I'm not able to type anything, most of the times ctrl+alt+del does
not work nor alt+f3, necessitating my crashing the system & starting over again :(

Once again, thx much for ur assistance

OK, I am also using free version and this works every time.

When AHII Freezes, hit Ctr, Alt, Del.  Then end task on the Zone ALarm Pop Up window.   This will activate the zone alarm popup.  Then hit ctrl r, to remember your selection.  Tab to the Allow button, hit space and away you go.

This only works on the Pro version.

Ahh, thx for clarifying.

Surely you can add program manualy, no? If so, he could just add the aceshigh.exe after each update and set access to "allow"
