I have always liked the look of this plane but never known what its called. I see from the name of the pic that its a Grumman but thats it

Anyone know the name and a website with more images of them?

-edit- is it called Goose or albatros?

Grumman Albatross

I remember a tv show when i was a kid that starred a Goose and its pilot. They flew around and did all kinds of stuff. Dont remember the name of the series but thats when i started to like the plane. The Albatros is as derivate of the Goose if i understand it correctly.

Tales of the Gold Monkey was a popular but short-lived television show made in the early 1980s, centering around the exploits of a pilot named Jake Cutter who owned a Goose (which was named, aptly enough, "Cutter's Goose"). The producer of the show modelled it on the 1939 movie Only Angels Have Wings, although the network executives were definitely looking for something to be a TV clone of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The show was cheesy and sometimes painfully bad, but still fun, and had lots of terrific footage of a Goose taking off, landing, and in flight. (Unfortunately, the show cost the world a Goose, which crashed on its way from Alaska to California for filming. C'est la vie.) The Goose that replaced the lost one is still alive and kicking, though, and until early 1997 was owned by Seattle Seaplanes (it's been painted blue and doesn't say "Cutter's Goose" on the side any more...). It's recently been sold to unnamed buyers, but I don't have any more info than that.

Also a good lookig plane. Was used in ww2 as a scoutplane wasnt it? Was used on cruisers and battleships + from land if i remember correctly.

I know the Coast Guard was using Ducks (which they winched on and off CG cutter decks).

I think the Navy used primarily Seagulls:

btw Arlo. How does your setup work for AH? Do you get decent framerates?

Pretty good. I average 45 frames on the runway, 80-90 in the air without traffic, has dipped down as low as 20 when the furball is truly raging but most times it's in the high 30s in combat. Good enough that I seldom notice any "video drag" at all.

p.s. Running the 256 texture setting and detail sliders a tad bit toward the better detail side of the slider.

Good, i should get abit better performance with the settup ill make soon then....sertainly not worse
