Nice NUTTZ! I still have the original registration for mine as a keepsake. I see HTs around occationally, but haven't seen any Conv. What is a restored 65' Conv. going for these days?

I got to sit in a 1966 AC Cobra last night.  The owner finally dragged me out of the seat:D

tisk tisk tisk ... come on a tripower is easy to fix ..  just take the end carbs off .  take out the throttle plates , file / sand them while test fitting them (hold them up to a light look for a good seal )  you may have to file or bend the tange on the linkage/spring plate stop ..   (these carbs are just dumpers and you should be able to cover them with your hand while running and No rpm change )

now do the same to the center carb but this is just to get the plates nice and even ,  as you go thru the carb beshure the idle and power valve circuit is very clean along with polishing the mixture screws .

the biggest problem ive had with my tripower is was stoping #1 cyl from going lean at wot (wide open throttle)  but a few 1/4 mile passes on some champion plugs and a jet change straightened it out .    I only have to adjust the center carb if the temp changes more then 15 deg. other then that my 66 runs like a top .

now if ya really wanna play adjust carbs go get ya a nash tunnelram and dual 660 center squirters .. talk about a nightmare when the temp changes

The "New" GTO is based off of the Holden Monaro Coupe (Austrailian).  I saw my first one on the road.  I dont like it for 2 reasons.

1.  It's too small
2.  They should have put this engine into the Solstice.

The only two things they got right on the GTO are the fact that it's rear wheel drive and the exhaust.  The note on those pipes is heaven.

I've seriously thought about tricking out my 65 Fairlane Sport's Coupe.  It's stock 289 4bbl is not bad (wish it was a K Code HiPo but oh well) and puts out enough to get the old bird off the line ok but it won't take out any true muscle cars.

I would like to take her down, plop in a crate 302 or even a big block 429 (would require some serious enging compartment work), a 4 speed toploader tranny, some decent streetable rear end gears on an 8 inch rear.

I plan on something like this after I retire, in about 10 years.  Yes I plan on keeping her that long.  There is something really cool about driving something that you just don't see every day.  Between her and my 62 Thunderbird I get a lot of looks.

Great new issue of Hot Rod about the "revival" of the muscle car...  Bad news is that pristene original numbered cars are in the 50k-2 million dollar range but...

Good news is that clones and build ups are easier than ever and... fairly cheap and it is NOTHING to have a pump gas chevelle big block with air conditioning and 500hp  that will stop and handle with the best off the showroom today and...  NOTHING gets attention or sounds like these things and nothing lays down a scary patch of burning rubber like em..  A time capsule that is an E ticket ride (60's disneyland for you kids).

Revolvers are back and better than ever... 12 oz 357 and 8 shot 357.... more 44's than you can shake a stick at and 480's and 454's.... they outshoot the semi autos and they are alllmost as fast... faster for the first shot .    peacmaker clones are everywhere and sports for revolvers are jumping up... the most popular shooting sports right now are exclussivly or inclussivly revolver ones..

life is good.

Gonna load my 69 big block elky up with revolvers and go shooting friday..  High tech revolvers and 6 speed big blocks... I am certainly gonna enjoy it while I can.

"Enjoy It While You Can" is right Lazs. If us Libs have our way your V-8s will be outlawed and your guns will be melted down to be cast into a bust of Hilary Clinton.

Don't worry tho, you can always play X-Box- provided we screen your games and censor those with too much violence.

It's all for your own good, Lazs- hell, if not for us you might hurt yourself.

Go enjoy it while you can.

Not trying to make this old against new thing..

My point is that there is a resurgence of interest in both Muscle cars and revolvers.   Both are beasts that seemed like they had seen their day but..

Modern tech makes em better than they ever were.   I have a 12 oz 357 mag that you don't even notice you are carrying.

My 468 el Camino will idle in traffic on the hottest day with the air conditioner on and still vaporize the rear tires if I put my foot into it... it has a 6 speed..  Heck, I can remember lusting for 4 speeds.  It will walk away from most any modern car from allmost any sane speed.  I could make it even faster if I wanted.

The old cars are movie stars.   The producers of the fast and furius movies said that they go 10 times more mail about the Charger than any of the other cars.

They make for an interesting driving experiance.   People notice em and they break the ice everywhere.   They sound and are brutal.

Women don't drive em.   They probly couldn't drive mine because of the clutch.

Women didn't drive Harleys back when they were kickstart either.

tuner car shows attendance is way down but the muscle and Hot Rod shows are thriving.

I have three cars that are so different it is crazy.

My first is my 55 Healey with a 331 11.5/1 solid stick motor with muncie and narrowed danna...  it is a no doorhandles no top no windows no frills rocket..  like an old ac cobra I guess...

The other is the 69 SS elky with 468 and 6 speed and vintage air and 12 bolt... It is my daily driver and "truck"

last is a late model Lincoln Town car.  It is setting under cover till next time I have to take my grand daugthter and girlfriend on a trip... It has satalite radio (couldn't hear a radio in the other cars) and it is like taking your house out for a drive comfort wise.. it even gets 20-25 mpg.

I enjoy driving all of em for different reasons.

I have had to drive peoples FWD cars once in a while and it is allways painful.

Can't tell the 12oz .357 is there when you carry it eh, but that weight tells me you get bruised by it when you spend an afternoon with it at the range :)

When I'm not flyin this is what takes my free time:

Expecting a 12 flat on regular unleaded and street tires, and it has the whoa to go with the go.

edbert... your car is exactly what I am talking about.   It is childs play to get 450 hp out of that motor and have it idle all day with the air conditioner on (get a vintage air system you won't be sorry)

the mustang can stop as well as any car you can buy with the brakes on the market... It will outhandle allmost anything with garage installed parts.

the original car couldn't.... it was slow or... a factory hot rod that was finicky and overheat prone and couldn't stop or go around a corner for crap or... it rode like a flatbed truck.

you can have 5 or 6 speeds that are bulletproof or an auto with overdrive... no longer do you have to choose between acceleration and top speed or cruise at 4000 rpm.

you might not get a flat 12 on street tires tho unless you go to nittos or the really large goodyear drag radials.

And... the 12oz 357 is not for range work.   I have 1000 rounds of 125 grain federals for the gun and they will last a lifetime... my 44's shoot up that many in a couple of months.

You can buy crate engines with 700 dependable carburated HP these days.   Complete bulletproof rears...   Blower systems are getting affordable.   Even efi is simple to put on the older cars.

but ed...  I don't think kerry would approve of your car.  I like it tho.
