Yesterday I flew a nice sortie in a P-51D and decided to up something more challenging, a F4U-1. After a kill or two I still had plenty of fuel so when I saw a co-alt Typh returning from a ground attack sortie I decided to try to get him. On the initial merge I got behind him and got a few pings in (in AH-1 I probably would have killed him, but no regrets). Then he accelerated beyond gun range and ran for it. As I had plenty of fuel and all my WEP I decided to give chase, knowing that he was only slighty faster and probably would not have much fuel or WEP remaining. He had quite a long way to a friendly field so I just hung on in there. He never got farther away dan d2.0 but the chase lasted for maybe 10 minutes or so. Then he decided that he would at least try to get out of this figthing so he did a nice reversal and pinged me on the merge. On the second one he blew my tail section off. Nice one. Anyway, when I plummeted down I waited for the moment when I could see who had shot me down. I crashed, got a weird pic of a F4U lying on its side and then *poof* I was thrown to my desktop. Looking at my stats I got a disco, not a death... and I still don't know who the Typhoon was.
