id guess he has a pile of worm, trojans ,backdoors ,ect and exspecially spyware (kazaa is full of that junk )

the fastest way to solve the problem is to do a reformat .
the otherway is to identify each and every bug , clean out all your temp files, temp downloads, any .exes, files that you got from kazaa, ect . and do the regedit to it . if its a worm thats attached to all your .exe's then you would have to edit in safe mode, and address each one of those also .

if your not familier with the registry (regedit) in windows then your just better off to reformat.

First off--if you don't mind playing with your registry and advanced IE settings, there is NO Reason you should have to reinstall it.  I used to re-format weekly but haven't done that for more than 2 years now with no adverse effects.

Spyware sucks!

This is a pretty solid wesite for spyware removal and it tells you how to remove a couple of programs which ad-aware and spybot always seem to miss.  It doesn't get all of them of course, but it's a good start.

Also--

Turn off things like automatic activeX downloads in your security settings.   Stuff like that is the number one way you get spyware.  As noted above, KAZAA is FULL of adware and spyware.   Several spyware programs are highly annoying and cannot be removed unless you restart your PC into safe mode and remove them from the registry manually.

I just had to manually remove a particularly devious spyware app from my own computer.  I call it devious because it actually kept two versions of itself running at any given time--try to turn one off and the other would turn it back on.  Took me a couple hours to get rid of that PITA.

In addition to spyware/addware, it is possile you just have too much CRAP on your computer.  How many programs do you have running at any given time?  Start turning off the junk.
