What a totally absorbing read.
Read through the thread and relevant links once, and I am left with the following thoughts.
Paul Voss has an extremely low opinion of himself and his achievements in life so far. Unfortunately his initially successful attempts to enrich his standing with those he considers peers, reinforced a pattern of self-denial and pathological lying, spiralling hopelessly out of control and ending in flames. People got burnt. A lesson was learnt by the flight sim community, but not, it appears, by Voss.
This thread has drawn the interest and contribution of some
names - reminded me of "Excession" Iain M Banks - and lended some heavy hitting authority to statements made.
The 418th Hornets are quick to defend a perceived attack on their squadron's honour, tactics or game play & rightly so: but only a couple have stepped up to actively defend their squad mate. I am left with the impression that by defending Voss's actions the question of his current identity has been resolved. The defence questioning his identity was far more effective, but the man himself laid that to rest. I will be interested in the CO's reaction.
I would have liked to have seen more of a fight but I guess you can't have everything. Thanks for this thread, it was all news to me and needs to be known. Named and Shamed - sorted.
p.s. excuse sig, normally post in bug forum
