Think of it is this way...he's been doing something right 'cause he outlasted the Newscorp and EA corporate droids in the online space. Truth be told he's a really nice guy and honestly cares for his employees. I know you'll find that hard to swallow, given your past run-ins with him online, but it is true.
I talk to Sanya daily. Sanya's been ribbing me since the day of my interview and I enjoy picking on her too. Scott I don't know so well. He and I (and a few others) are going to Meltdown next week so maybe I'll have a chance to drop your name and watch him go ghost-white.
Dunno who Copper and Olivia are. I'll have to ask around.
I'm sure he is different when it comes to his employees...that's the one thing that he has done right and the primary reason he's been successful. He surrounded himself with the right people. Hiring Tweety and Lum was a genious move IMHO...
I will give him credit where it's due...RvR combat was another great move...it gave players a team based PvP and cut out the end game. DAoC is probably the most addicting game out there and if their marketing department would have done a better job, I bet they'd be outselling EQ right now.
I think right now he's trying to spread himself a bit to thin with the new projects (but I won't say anything since I know you're actually working on the new project) and I think he needs to retool his support department...the CSR's for DAoC are the WORST customer support I've ever come across and they're freaking PAID employees. I got better service from volunteer staff than I've ever got in DAoC.
Other thing that bothers me is he's more interested in pumping out new content than he is in dealing with glaring issues that have been in the game for years (population balance). They tried to address it once, but it failed miserably and now it's like they just threw their hands up and said "screw it!"
Olivia is Georgia Wall (possibly the person that passed on the message to you) and Copper is one of the producers in charge of...I think content...not sure though. Can't remember his real name. I was actually going to meet up with Scott at E3, one of my Guild members does a lot of volunteer work for Mythic and was hanging out with him, but I couldn't get out there because our network took a nosedive and I ended up working for 29 hours straight that weekend.
I'm tired of this kind of work, I really want to break into the gaming industry. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong though, my resume IMHO is more than adequate and I honestly think I could bring a LOT to a gaming company in the support department...hell...I've managed a help desk that supported over 2,500 users spread out across 30 different countries. Maybe I'm aiming to high in applying for the management positions, but I just can't bring myself to start as someone doing in game support or answering phones.
Blizzard is probably sick of hearing from me...I really didn't want to leave California, but after the past two years, I don't really care where I live anymore.
