Up the sim speed?  Now, there's an idea.  In fact, maybe they could make AH to be more like Quake!  Think of it!  Instaspawn -- after you die, you instantly spawn in-flight into the nearest permafurball.  Up the sim speed (like you say) -- a few seconds for a complete 360 ought to be great.  In fact, maybe all planes should be like the Me163, only with lots and lots of fuel (and a much faster turning rate, of course, still 3 seconds for a 360 sounds about right).  In-flight health and ammo nuggets -- like health and ammo in Quake.  Oh, and lots and lots of ammo to start with -- so that you can hold down the trigger from the time you instaspawn into the permafurball until the time you get fragged, like 10-20 seconds later because the permafurball should be pretty much solid tracers and shells everywhere.  Now, there needs to be something like jumping in Quake -- you know, something totally unrealistic but that works great defensively in the game.  Hmm.  Maybe the space bar key could be like an instawarp, so once every second or so, you could make the plane pop up and down.  Man, this is great stuff!  Just the sort of thing to spice up this dull "flight sim" with its boring "realism" so that it can appeal to a wider demographic, such as the 9-12 year old attention-deficit-disorder group.  I'm so excited, I think I doodied in my pants!

I just cant take it! now I don't mean the actual terrain worlds some of the guys like nuttz created. he and the others did a fine job with what they have avail... I mean the overall mechanics and features in the 3d world.

Not that anyone gives a rat's bellybutton if you play AH, but those quotes are funny.

You played AW with less than half the graphics, terrain and flight model that AH has. My guess is that you can't handle the FM and gunnery in AH.

This thread came dangerously close to slipping off the front page.  It's a good thing I'm paying attention, ya slackers.

Not that I remember, Nuke. He wasn't as bad as AWBrat, but he still sucked and he was the guy I seeked out whenever I wanted a few kills- I would have seeked out Brat, but those climbs to 35k just took too long.

He was CO of a RR AW Squad that won a few Camps due mostly to large numbers. He used to print out Camp final scores, frame them and display them on his walls.

He's a real piece of work- I'm glad he hasn't settled here. Don't know why he posted here tho- maybe he's decided to become the Thread Tool since SLO shut up.

Well....I read the whole thing.

There are three people who know the real story behind the TAS thingie....Paul Hinds, Mike Hobus and myself....I was right there in the middle between two friends....one remains my friend, the other is a lost cause.

I feel no need to discuss the details of what really happened....the postings in this thread are close enough to convey the jist of it all.

Of all that I read, the most accurate appraisal of Voss and all of his antics was presented by Lazs....it's not what he did or said or pretended to be....that is fairly simple to understand. It is his lack of remorse and his refusal to stand down.

I could tell you all many things, none of which would serve any of us. The fact of the matter is this....Voss is a lonely and unhappy man who never achieved what he had hoped to in his life. He took advantage of those around him who really tried to help and the worst part of it all is this....he remains unrepentent and lacks the humility to simply say I'm sorry.

I spoke to Mike (Doom) yesterday and he will be reading this work of art....don't feel too sorry for him....he's a happy man who always found the best side of all of this silliness....make sure to say hi and welcome him to our little world.

Yanno, what "bothered" me at the AW CON's was some of the RR types that would just sit there and fly, and fly, and FLY - all day, all night.

Some of them didn't even stop long enough to DRINK, and barely attended some of the special events. They seemed almost unnaware of the community or the "alpha-community".

I wondered (aloud sometimes) why they didn't just stay home and fly......  ??

At the WB cons in 96 and 97 many folks took advantage of the free flight time. This was back when we had $200+ per month bills though. Didn't mean we didn't drink though :D
