I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Voss for being the one who actually invented AH and WB as well as the internet. Also for shooting down the Iraqi airforce and bringing a swift and victorious end to the Gulf War. And for getting shot down and bailing out over enemy territory (under secret CIA orders) and making it back to friendly lines with a hundred prisoners in tow. Oh ... and for jumping on that grenade and saving my life.

Ewe are mah heeeeero .....

(Please come back and post how much you don't give a crap again?)

I was involved.

Voss sent e-mails requesting donations for the restoration of vintage WWII aircraft. I do not know how many people were scammed, but I sent nothing.

Voss claimed to be working at a university, was a professor, and had students working on the project. He did indeed claim to have two phd's. I had a small website back then, and I had mailed him asking to use his graphic. He talked a bit about himself then, thinking I might be a media outlet for him I suppose. I'm sure others were involved in the same manner.

Voss ripped Michael Hobuss off- no question about it.

Voss lied continuously during the whole event, no question.

Voss continues to lie about it now. I am a forgive and forget kind of guy, but as Lazs says, a fellow needs to show a measure of contrition- Voss does not. Voss is dangerous, in that he is a con-man waiting for his next mark. He is without ethics or morals, and yes, he should be outed.

You almost feel sorry for the guy... then he posts.

What valid points? Sorry, I honestly missed them.

However, I'm coming at this from a different angle then some others here. Do I think Voss is a scumbag? Certainly - but not for his alleged fraud(s). I think he is a scumbag for reasons that have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt:

1. He lied about being a graduate of the US Air Force Academy
2. He lied about being a USAF F-16 pilot
3. He lied about his supposed service during ther first Gulf War
4. He has never retracted or apologized for the above claims

The other stuff - either pure lies (His P-51, Bf-109 and Dr-1) or fraud (the TAS mess) I could care less about - although they do seem to fit a pattern.

As we keep saying, we have no reason to.  He has been a model squaddie since he joined.  All we have to go by is what is said here.  No proof of theft or anything, for all i know it could have been a joke that got way out of hand?

If i told you to kick someone outta your squad - because i dont like him, would you?

RE:     TAS Update (or lack of)

All....

I wanted to bring you all up to date on the situation with ProLine and the
scam product called TAS, and feel this update
is necessary to prevent any of the rest of you from being as foolish as I
was.

First off, let me say the last time I spoke vox with Hinds, on the 1st of
June, he PROMISED to send me immediately
verification of his education, ownership of a P51, and the beta itself. The
ONLY thing I received was a doctored up
picture of him sitting in someone's Mustang. Since then it has been
determined that he and John "OneMan" Birke
are indeed one and the same man (nice touch there though, eh?..."OneMan").

On the first of August the partnership known as ProLine was legally
dissolved and Hinds was told to return the
computer I am still making lease payments on (and will for the next 2 1/2
years), and to wind down the business.
Many of you may have read his interpretation of "winding down" with his
recent interview in CombatSim. In that
interview he states how he is incorporating a land variant into the game
based on the Quake engine. Hardly
surprising since he is incapable of bringing the air game to fruition.

Hinds continues to disgrace the roster of the 13th TAS squadron, where his
lies, deceit, and theft have yet to
bump up against our charter. To those of you who have noticed I now fly
sans colors and have invited me to
join their squads, I say THANK YOU. Simming is very important to me as is
the inherent squad life. We will
wait and see how the situation with the 13th TAS plays out.

Know this and know this well....

In my opinion, there NEVER was a game and NEVER will be. Hinds is a liar
and in 6 days will advance in rank to be
a legally defined THIEF. He will be legally  pursued to the limits of my
ability. I have encouraged my attorneys  to
maximize their  fees, so Hinds' day of reckoning will be even more painful.
Can we all say...FELONY FRAUD?

To the beta group I apologize for my unknowing role in this deception. I am
not sure if my emotions are stronger in
anger at this obvious con artist who plays on normal human compassion, or
sorrow at realising as a simmist
that the ultimate experience will not to be available to us.

To Robey Price, who first raised the questions concerning Hinds'
background, THANK YOU!

I would encourage any of you tempted by this con artist to devote any more
of your time or money  to run as far and fast
away as possible. Hinds is probably in need of professional help, and for
some reason feels he can continue to
disgrace the world of airsimming.

Thank you...

Michael Hobuss

The TAS debacle is not that big of a deal to me personally. I lost no money. I was a late addition to the beta team. I thought the screenshots were too good to beleive when I saw them. I did not buy a video card to play the beta. I DID get the the NDA and sent it in but the notary was free. I get a request for donations but was poor back then because WB cost me $100-200 month :(  I never got any code (there was none) all I got was a squad assginment, and a lot of anxiety looking forward to what appeared to be the best sim evar. The TAS scam was only a SERIOUS deal to those who sent in money, and I am suprised they have not sought legal recourse, but I figure the cost of pressing charges would be much higher than any possible damage recovery would cover.

Forget the TAS scam. But all of the other hijinks and crap that voss/metatron have perpetuated over the last ~7 years would be enough for me to not want to have him associated with me, "criminal" or not. The only reason I can see that the 418th would keep him onboard (now that it is clear that Metatron IS Voss) is that they value his contribution to their score/rank than they do their tainted reputation of having such a scumbag in their midst.  With all that is known accross all of these multiple flight sims and all of the various BBSes is "why would anyone want Voss in their squad"?

I just don't get it.

Don Lapre ended up giving his prodcut away on tv.  he banked on making it up on the backend end.  It killed him.
