Shaq to Miami?

This has to be one of the worst trades as it stands. Who knows what the future will bring, but you don't trade Shaq!

Calculated risk.  Might work out.  Not sure how much diesel is left in the tank.

"We've been here before. In 1992, Philly made the EXACT SAME MISTAKE with a disgruntled Sir Charles, swapping him for 40 cents on the dollar (Jeff Hornacek, Andrew Lang and Tim Perry). In 1982, Houston traded Moses to Philly for Caldwell Jones and a piddling No. 1. In 1975, Milwaukee traded Kareem for Brian Winters, Junior Bridgeman, Laverne and Shirley. In the 1960's, even Wilt was freaking traded . . . twice. Every one of those guys ended up playing in the Finals within two years of said trade. You can look it up. During that time frame, only one franchise held strong with an unhappy superstar: the Rockets with Hakeem. They shopped him around, couldn't secure equal value, worked everything out with him and ended up winning consecutive titles in '94 and '95."

Consecutive titles that they won while Michael Jordan was retired due to the deal he cut with Stern over his gambling problems.

I guess I should have made my point clearer....I am referring to Houston's 2 titles that they won while MJ was on his gambling induced hiatus.  Not the Lakers who won after MJ retired for real.

A. Michael Jordan retired cause he was old and slow.
B. Shaq is the most over-rated center in the history of the game. Good Bye!
C. Think Bryant - Odom kinda like Jordan - Pippin.
D. Losing Phil Jackson is gonna hurt alot worse than losing Shaq.

1. Not in '93, MT..he was at the top of his career.
2. While I am no big fan of Shaq, his obvious size and power covers up for a lot of bad habits.
3. MT, do you think Kobe wants to share the spotlight with anyone. I like Odom's game, and the few games he played at URI proved to everyone he was NBA material from the start.
4. yeah, Kobe getting Phil out of there was a bad move, cant believe the Lakers brass is booting out guys like west and jackson.

I doubt the Lakers will get past the second round. go Wolves!

If your a heat fan its a good thing..

I didn't really like Odom and Butler being traded.. but hey its freaking Shaq..

If shaq stays healthy(ive watched eggs in one basket ZO failure inthe past..), the Heat will be a strong contender in the eastern conference now..  We didn't have a center last year (brian grant is a forward but he plays tough..) Combined with rookie Dwayne Wade.. and Eddie Jones Shaq will compliment us well...

So shaq is a good pick up..  Lets consider the sports market down here, the shaq move will bring in millions in endorsements / franchising alone..  So economics of the situation are very sound...

my opinion is its a good move..  For us that is...    ;)

As long as "3 seconds in the lane" is 10 seconds long in the East like it is in the Western Conference, Shaq will do fine.

Spurs will win next championship (or 2).

Shaq is to undisciplined now... he is not gonna do anything but fade away in Miami....

Bryant is gonna get WHACKED by his current situation in Colorado.  Either in the courts, or in the monetary settlement, either way, the rapist is gonna pay.

Jackson's loss is gonna hurt hardcore, more so than shaq's loss.

Anyways, basketball sucks past 1988... plain and simple!
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

Finally!!!

The 6-year Western dominance is over! The balance of power is now restored.
