2. Videocard:
Nvidia
ATI

etc.
Is there big diffrent on mainboards.

4. Ram.

1. Both processors work extremely well, both have a couple pro's & con's.
2. When referring to video cards, it's the chipset that you're buying.  ATI, Nvidia, SiS, VIA
3. Mainboards, this is a whole diff area. Things to consider: What platform? what chipset? what form factor? tier 1 or 2 level supplier?  Sometimes the diff between a good MB and a great MB can be as little as $20-$30
4. Memory, again there is only a handful of really good memory manuf's. DDR & DDR2 is a type or memory. Crucial, Corsair & kingston for example, are memory manuf's and vendors.
Yes, brands do matter.

Hope this helps. If you don't get all your questions answered here feel free to contact me.

At this time, if you read the Technical section of this board,
many ppl are having a problem with the ATI cards using this game, so you may want to go nvidia there.  I personally
have an ATI card ( aging a bit..9000 Radeon, 128 MB)
but I am having no problems myself running this game with it.
In any event, I personally wouldn't go with a video card less than 128MB.
As far as processor?  I could be very wrong here because my info is third party, but I hear the AMD's are geared more toward
gaming.

AMD Athlon 64, as fast as I could budget
Nvidia 6800GT
ABIT or ASUS motherboard
Best deal on pc3200 or 3700 memory, but it would be a name brand like crucial, OCZ, etc.  Crucial.com memory is high quality, reasonably priced, and has great customer support, but it's not the fastest out there and won't overclock quite as well as other premium brands which are intended for overclocking.

Oh, and as far as motherboards and memory go, just pick
the latest stuff.  I am using an old (3 years)MSI motherboard and
pc-133 chips  (1.5 gig worth) and this game runs very smooth, so these shouldn;t be a factor.  Only thing about motherboards is, make sure the board itself isnt a thin one  (they call it something, but I can;t remember- about the thickness).  Thin boards will warp when temps get kinda high..OHH and big thing is..load it up
with fans..can never have too many fans (specially cpu fan)
I use one fan blowin into my machine, and another blowing out.

CPU:
Budget: AMD AthlonXP 3200+ 400mhz FSB
Mid range: Intel Pentium 4, as fast as your budget allows
High end: AMD Athlon64, as fast as your budget allows
Top end: AMD Athlon64 FX-53

Video Card:
Depending on how much you want to spend:
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
nVidia GeForce 6800GT
ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256mb
nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra 256mb

Motherboard:
MSI or ASUS.  DO NOT get an Abit motherboard.
nVidia nForce2 chipset for the AthlonXP.
nVidia nForce3 chipset for the Athlon64s.

I don't know about Intel chipsets.

Memory:
1024mb of name brand memory at the best speed your FSB can handle.

Hard Drives:
3 identical drives in a RAID 5 setup.  The drives should be at least 7200rpm, though 10,000rpm is better if the heat and noise can be overcome.  The more cache on the drives the better.

I ussually choose by value , compatibility ,and reliability

AMD is what i build most ( i have had pents but there all dead )

for mainboards
Asus mostly (my 1st asus sp-97 mainboard is still running 7yrs now)
ECS,soyo, and a few amptrons

for video cards  (i ussually go a couple of steps down from the latest thing ,hell in a year the'll be 1/2 price)

nvidia mostly
fx5200 or or better depending on the budget /system
ATI  im ussing a 9550 256mb currently and i cant hardly see any difference beween that and the 9600pro i have. (the gpu in it is a 9600)

ram what ever top quality ram i can get, i ussually dont skimp in this department

1. Like both, would us both. Currently using Intel.

2. Nvidia (wouldn't use any other brand) Have used ATI had bad experience with them.

3. Asus, Soyo (Soyo is my favorite for various reasons)

4. Kingston (good quality, price isn't to bad) Ram does matter. In my experinece, cheap ram dosen't last as long. Some if not all has lower perfromance compared to other companys.

1. Intel/Amd doesnt matter just stay out of the viachipset MB's

2. Nvidia/Ati I have tried both in AH and seems that nvidia works best in AH2

3. Abit, Asus, Gigabyte, chaintech, epox :) the list is long and confusing personally I would go for any MB exept does with via chipset ( I had severeal MBs and never had a problem with either, exept 2 via chipset boards)

4. OCZ , Geil, Kingston, Corsair, Crusial all good brand, just in case you think of a via amd 754 you need to check compapility between memory and you mainboard brand, there have been several problems with that.

YES!

4. Ram.
DDR,

Brand can matter, I've had high end & cheap stuff, both work. High end ram will be a bit more stable long term IMO.

In my case I prefer Abit mboards because of ease of assembly.
Everything is software controled. No jumpers. Easy as pie.

Thx Gents, keep it coming.

I have the impression that...

1. Intel CPU is safe and not getting to hot.
2. Nvidia is alos safer in use regarding driver support and compatibel with games.
3. AMD is faster the intel in generel, but gets hot. Is this the same with the new AMD 64?
4. ATI cars have more twikes and setups to get it run fine.

In generel is ther anything out there that is realy crappy regarding brand or devices.

I see one says stay away from Abit mainboard, Ghosth say he has one and are working fine, just like me hav also Abit mainboard and had no problems with it or is it usely good product out there but just that peopel in generel have diffrent taste on what to buy;).

Thx again gents, keep it coming with your feedbacks :)

New AMD 64 runs cooler.
If you get one and want to run a dual boot with XP64, then an nVidia card is the only way to go (ATI XP64 drivers still beta).
AMD 64 kicks the P4 bellybutton for gaming. Try a nearly 6Gb/s mem transfer with almost no latency against any P4.
You couldn't go far wrong getting something along the lines of my system, I already had the ATI card and am just waiting on a good deal for an nVidia 6800GT.
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Asus M3N-HT mobo
2 x 2Gb Corsair 1066 DDR2 memory

I just choose the best part which I can afford regardless of brand.
