What a difference a patch makes
« on: July 16, 2004, 10:44:36 PM »
Figured you HTC folks could use a little 'Attaboy'. Installed patch 6 about an hour ago. No going through the hangar selection looking at every skin, no fresh reboot and killing any extra processes, just checked 'preload to system memory' (after asking on ch 200), relog, and up. So far, no problems at all (CTDs, minifreezes, stutters, whited-out textures, etc). May be a little early to tell, but so far, the game is running better than it ever has.

NICELY DONE, gentlemen.

Cheers,

Same here - night and day between patch5 and 6. Patch 6 is by far the best version (smooooooooooooooothest) of AH2 to date (on my machine).

Have to agree, preloading textures has made ALL the difference for me.
I know I have criticised the game, but have to admit, this patch has made it 2000% better. WTG on listening to peoples requests to be able to preload textures. I am sure that this is what has made the difference.

Gee, I'm sorry guys, I thought I'd start this thread to offer some positive feedback, since I've been slagging along for a few weeks now, and have finally seen a huge improvement. I guess I should have offered some really useful info like "NOT", or "first time in 5 years I can't play"

How long has AH2 been out?

Kalamori, I don't even know why you bothered to post such a thought provoking and interesting reply. 1 hour or , 40, what could possibly change? I played for another 4 hours after the initial post, still plays just as well as it did in the first hour. Maybe, I'll just wait and hope something goes horribly awry, then I can offer some brilliant feedback to help the HTC crew sort out problems. Something like "NOT!", or "I can't play."

[sarcasm] Cheers, enjoy your day /[sarcasm]

Well done really significant improvement over patch 5
I have RADEON 9000 with only 32MB and this memory preload really improves allmost no shutters (Intel Pentium 1.29 GHz, 512Mb RAM)

Edit: I'm thinking to increase textures sizes from 256 to 512 to see how it will work now.... maybe even 1024 just for test :aok
