262 bug
« on: July 17, 2004, 01:46:05 AM »
Take off in a 262 and manually control the airplane.  Get some altitude, airspeed and press 'x.'  It dives to the deck trying to reach 400-500 mph.  I have 'x' mapped to level flight

CG seems off
« Reply #1 on: July 17, 2004, 02:19:06 AM »
I believe the CG is off, the plane compensates with too much up ele trim..

Note: when you change CG aft.. Elev.  becomes more sensitive...

when you change CG foreward.. Elev. becomes less sensitive...

The 262 seems sluggish on the Elev.

262 is porked, its heavy at the front, it loses speed to fast, it gains speed to slow (or maybe about right now)

also 0.50s hits cause instant fuel fire it seems lost 2 already........

If you see a 262 tail sticking out of the ground east of A10 ... come dig me out.

yep .. lost one to similar thing.

took off and manually leveled.

set .speed 250

waited until 350 level speed about 1.5k.

hit alt x (auto speed) and nose into the ocean. tried to pull out as soon as nose went down, but stick didnt disengage auto pilot fast enough.

second sortie followed same procedure, but hit alt x then quickly alt x again. plane nosed down for a split second then level (auto beeing off now). pulled the nose up to about 10deg and hit alt x again. that time it worked. very odd
I don't know what to put here yet.

262 Bug??

I thought it was me.

So far I risked one 262 (landed 2 kills)..... When I hit shift X to hold climb, the nose dropped like a rock.  Repeated this a few times (after I changed my shorts)....    I finally dialed in a speed autoclimb that took..  (  /.speed 220 )

Either trim or modelled CG seems off?

the center of gravity seems way off.  Any kind of turn at all bleeds speed worse than a P40 w/ full flaps and gear down.  I have to keep her trimmed manually on the elevator at a very high degree to keep her from wanting to nose dive the moment i lay off the stick.  Definately has the worst feel of any plane in the set IMO.

I had an issue...
« Reply #9 on: July 22, 2004, 11:47:03 AM »
WIth any pitch changes being WAY bouncy until I trimmed it out. I have noticed it seems underpowered now. But this I expect to be from the new perhaps more accurate modeling.

I used .speed 350 for my Alt-X and didnt use auto level. DOg fights in it were good. The only complaint I can think of came from running out of gas RIGHT after deciding to take a missed.  Frelling Tree's...

IMHO the 262 is on it's way to a better place.  YES, it does seem a bit sluggish.  YES, alt x is not a good idea (I use shift x if anythig at all).  However, don't knock the model untill you have spent some time with it.  I personally like the new 262 model.  It is no longer the UBER make an ace in a day wit it plane.  I like this.  It takes some moderate skill to fly it.  I think that makes a GREAT perk plane.  The 262 can still produce wonderful results each hop.  It just seems you have to be a little more patient with it.  But yes, the autolevel issue is real, and needs to be fixed.

The autolevel issue is huge, but the bleeding of E problem is the worst of all I think, no way a jet bleeds E like that thing does now...

been flying 262 since ah2 took over and i have to agree with all of the above,, beware of auto level, hell beware of auto climb too, and "e" whats that in this model
