Yeah, in all fairness, Kronenbourg, 1664, Jenlain, Pelforth and heck, even their Belgicizing brews up north, just aren't competitive on the world market. On the other hand, I can think of five regions of France that produce some of the finest wines around.
So yeah, leave the nitpicking on beer to your belgian neighbours. Our Budweiser isn't much pissier than your Kronenbourg. And your Pere Patriarch gives our Gallo California Rhine a run for its rotgut.
And guinness matters a lot where it's brewed. In the US, Guinness reminds me a lot of saltwater taffee.
