I wouldve gotten a better video card, but it was just out of my budget.  Not sure about the ram, but im sure the 333 is better than the 133 in my old system. :D

Btw, why do you think i should get 400+ rather than the 333?

Ok.  Installed everything on the system, getting ready to play AH.  Go to hitechcreations.com.  No sound.  I look again and try to play other sounds, nothing.  Turns out my PC didnt recognize the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Card and so now I have no sound and no way of getting this fixed.  I tried just about everything Im aware of: getting different drivers, reinstalling Windows XP, searching for new hardware.  Nothing is working.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

Thanks in advance.

does the MOBO have onboard sound? look at the bios and see if its turned on! try and turn it of or set it to auto, next thing is look to see if its sharing an IRQ, you might need to move it to a different slot.

As to my ram statment the DDR400 vs 333 will allow you to run a 200 mhz front side bus and if you get better than DDR 400 (PC3200) like PC 3400 or PC 4000 you can over clock the FSB higher than 200 (intel systems mave different multipiers to go up to like a 800 mhz (200X4) depending on the mobo you have!

Im an idiot when it comes to computers, so I have no clue what you are trying to say with IRQ and MOBO, sorry :(.  Is there any way you can put it into terms for a rookie PC user?

Also, i made a big mistake, heres the background of what mayhem I caused to my PC.

This is why i dont ever buy ready built computers, Geforce FX 5200 is WAY too low-end card to make up with the other really high-end parts you got (2GB ram is overkill). I have FX 5600 and it is minimum for todays standards, ATI:s cards offer best performance nowdays.

333 vs 400mhz  gap is nonexistant.
