Not sure what you mean by militarized. Our military is smaller now than it was 10 years ago. Do you mean that more people seem to be speaking out for action against terrorists? That's a natural reaction to the attack we suffered on 9/11.

The USA spends $953.01 per person annually in defense.  Only Israel and Singapore spend more per capita.

In 1999 (Latest yr I could find quickly) the USA spent 281 Billion.  More than the next six countries combined. (Mainland China, Japan, France. UK, Russia, and Germany respectively.)

Don't get me wrong here, I believe that our police force should be sufficient to ensure order and that they should be appropriately compensated. However, if we're going to talk about a "police state" we have to look at under which party that's most likely to occur. Ya gotta have police to have a police state right? Which candidate is promising to throw more money that way?

So you are then equating hiring more police with creating a police state. Is this a fox newsism or did you come up with it yourself?

LOL Pongo you are such a tool.

If you feel so strongly about this why even ask which candidate proposed it?

You were just asking so you could decide whether you were pro or con based on if it was Kerry or Bush who asked for these cops..

Nice obligatory bash at foxnews too. But I understand how you place so much weight on a media sources influence in this matter, seeing as how you get your political thoughts spoonfed to you by Micheal Moore and authors of libelous books... What a brainwashed loser you have been of late... Sad..

Go Kerry!

Ghosth brought it up. I was just pointing out the obvious, you can't have a police state without police. Personally, I'm not really concerned about it, but what do I know?

If Fox News really hasnt explained the difference I will enlighten you. They would have to be secret police to be relevent in regards to a police state.  You know. Like all the 100s of thousands of guys in the Department of Homeland security. And they need to be legally empowered to spy and comit espianage against the population of the country. You know like the Patriot Act.
beat cops dont make a police state. Especially when the moneys to hire them are distributed piece meal accross the country.
Just in case Fox News doenst explain the difference.
