Well, I'm thinking of canceling my account for a bit...
« on: July 19, 2004, 10:01:29 PM »
I just had a very, VERY frusterating night.

Makes me wonder why I pay for this sometimes.

Kill stealing, assist ridden and La-7 ended night.

Fly the Mossie and beg to get gangraped.  The Fw190A-5 isn't much better.  Fly the Spitfire and be simultaneously saddled with a horribly slow 1942 Spit built in lower numbers than the N1K2-J and the deafening whine of people like Urchin.

Seems that the only viable rides to actually have fun in and not struggle ar the P-51D, Fw190D-9, Typhoon and La-7 and I can't stand a one of them.

Be a speed demon or be a punchingbag.  Hmmm.

Oh yeah.  After 5 years of playing this game, I am SICK of playing defense.  First Rooks for three years and now Knights for two years and nearly 90% of it on defense flying for the side with the lowest numbers.

Fly a Mossie, one of the most successful aircraft of the war, in that environment basically says "Here I am, a free kill.  All you come and me now".

So, now I feel faced with the "Join 'em or leave" position in regards to the 1945 uber speed demons.

Being people's punching bag isn't fun anymore.

CT sucks ass.

Sorry, but it is true.  I long ago gave up on it.

Dot chasing and forced to fly junk I dislike isn't my cup of tea either.

Maybe when the Ki-84 is added I'll have a ride.

I used to like Spitfires.  Heck, I signed up for this game to fly Spitfires.  I got so sick of the Spit hate that is spewed.

And then the slow assed Spit XIV came in with ridiculous tag and perk price.  What a farce that is.

Let me elaborate on the CT:

Imbalanced planesets that the CT staff cannot work around.  E.G. B5N2 and D3A1 vs. TBM-3 and SBD-5.

Very suspiciously modeled aircraft, e.g. F4F-4, that dominates in a way that it should not according to all that I have read and heard.

WAAAAAA!!!!  I can't slaughter helpless Japs in my F4U-1C!!!  WAAAAAA!!!!

I fly the SpitV almost exclusively. It's alot of fun. Don't care what anybody thinks. Fly what you want and have fun, if it's not fun take a break.

I remember that thing was a bad bellybutton little plane in the Warbirds RPS.  Good times.  Haven't flown it since I came to AH though.  Mainly a Luftwaffe guy these days.

I'd hate to see ya take a break from AH, but if you must, you must.

If we had a dedicated, viable 1941 arena it would help the survivability problem of the Mossie.  Unfortunately it would not solve the Spit hatred; if anything it'd probably be even more rampant in such an environment.  It's certainly palpable in the CT when the Spit is available.   I know from the ire directed at my favorite ride that it gets old after awhile.

I'd recommend switching countries to either Bish or Rook.  Certainly after flying for the underdog for years you've earned it.  Sometimes a change of pace can be a good thing.   Certainly the Rooks are somewhat organized at the sorts of missions the Mosquito is good at (much to my angst as these sorts of missions frequently result in the destruction of enemy FH's).

The only thing I'd disagree with is that the FF....FF....and apparently my number four key is now completely broken.  It won't work at all.  Ok....The WILDCAT....I don't think it dominates the Zero.  In fact in the A6M2 I find the Wildcats to be pretty much helpless before me if it's anything close to co-e, even if the wildcat has a better pilot.

Hopefully the Ki-84 will come out soon; it should fit the MA nicely.

YAK!

Either is a blast, although I've been flying the T a lot lately.

Helps if you pick good fights to get into in the first place.

The B5N2 and D3A1 usually do not fight against TBM-3s and SBD-5s.  The Japs have been sinking allied CVs in the CT left and right with these bombers.

The F4F does not dominate.  The Zero and F4F are a great match.  The Zero outperforms the Wildcat in most respects.  As most folks fly them in the CT, their KDs are very close against each other.

OK.  A6M2 vs F4F-4 and P-40B was fun....except for the whole three to one against us odds.

From what I've seen this week the Japs have been greatly outnumbered.  The fact that the Zero holds a decent KD against the F4F and 3:1 against the P-40 illustrates that it is more than competitive.
