...that deserve to have their works on the big screen.

My favorite has always been Fritz Leiber and his "Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser" series of tales.

A close second would be Fred Saberhagen's "Berserker" series.

Your thoughts?

Berserkers are made for the big screen, I agree.

I'd also like to see some alternate history stuff done, like Turtledove's 'WorldWar' series (aliens invade at the height of WWII).

Asimov has always been my fav. I just can't imagine anyone doing justice to the Foundation series on film.

edit: I'd like to see some of Salvatore's books brought to the big screen. Especially his latest series (something about swords...)

Oh man, where to start? One of my favorites dealing with time travel is Gregory Benford's "Timescape". James P. Hogan's "Giant" series was good. Certainly Asimov's Foundation series. Stephen Donaldson's "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" might work. Fred Saberhagen's "Book of Swords" would likely be a hit. The list could go on and on.

Hienlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"
anyone ever see that B version of"The Puppet Masters" ?
It actually stuck to the book pretty well, unlike the butcher job they did on "Starship Troopers"

This film genre did not get much respect from Hollywood until the arrival of Spielberg and Lucas in the late 1970s.  It is rapidly hitting it's stride, as evidenced by the popularity of I,Robot, Lord of the Rings, Signs, and other films.

Anyways, it's going to be interesting to see what hits the big screen next.

Arthur C. Clarke

I particularly liked Childhoods End (a basis in some ways for 2001) and Rendezvous with Rama. He has some really chilling short stories too.
