If The Hobbit makes it to the big screen expect it to break all box-office records.

For science fiction, if we are talking about books, atm I really like Tad Williams Otherland, be kinda neat to see that as an animated movie or series due to the fact that some things arn't humanly possible to be done, like someones arms being torn off, :) .

For fantasy, I really like Robert Jordan, and JK Rowling, of course the reason I like Rober Jordan, is because J.R.Tolkein was pretty cool too, but I never did get past the boring part in the 1st book, got audio CD's now and will begin reading it after I finish up Mountain of Black Glass by Tad Williams.

Wot? No mention of H.G Wells? (The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man) I think it was quite an accomplishment to exist as a science fiction writer in Victorian times.

BTW - is the Azimov family from CA? Just asking, as I had dinner with Azimov's  niece some years ago in San Francisco. Nice girl, red haired, very polite.

Beetle,

Quite right...a modern remake of War of the Worlds would rock!

William Gibsons work.

One of his short stories Dogfight was great. Basically it was about low lifes playing a WW1 flight sim on the 'matrix' in a post Word War 3 world.

yup, would be cool, but he does get repetitive, guess his 1st one would be cool....

some company just bought the rights to make the 1st Robert Jordan movie(Wheel of Time series)

Terry Goodkinds Sword of Truth series....but his best are the first 3 books, the rest are Jordan rip-offs.

I wanna see Rogue Squadron on screen, now that would be nice.
