Hey, I've played Air Warrior on and off for years -- how does AH compare? I'd kind of like a more, uh, mature community of pilots, you know? Does the higher monthly fee weed out some of the mouth-breathers?

Thx.

Monte,

Welcome.

In response to your question, no the players are pretty much the same. The $30 price doesn't weed out the riff raff. They just fly LW iron for the knits the here.

If you want true maturity in an airplane game, stick with the box offline games. Here you will be dealing with pretty much the same situation you had in AW. I know as I am an AW refugee too.

The main change here is the flight modeling. It is more difficult to master than AW and so are the tactics that go with it. If you really want to see what the player base is like, spend a few hours reviewing the posts on the bbs here. Then you can draw your own conclusions about the game players.

Good luck!

Got to disagree with Mav a bit here. These webboards are generally 1000% worse than what you may experience when online. Although alot of what is talked about here on the boards does concern something folks saw, read, talked about or heard when online. Online there is generally the same type of arena play as in AW  but you'll not find "macro" spewage ("SHOWTIME" doesn't count. I like knowing when he is hunting. Then I scan the skies above me MORE<ggggg> ). In AH is no computer assisted dive bombing sights for the fighters so the pork and auger crowd is much, MUCH less and the over all skill and experience is leaps above AW.

Rather than judge the AH community by this BBS, you can fly online 2 weeks for free.

Unless, of course, you're more interested in talking than flying.

Mature community?  Hell, this is one of the most mature, gracious, fun-loving, no harassment, no excuses, respectful communities of the flight sim market you'll ever meet, as a matter of fact, here's a picture of Nath sucking down a cold brew right before he goes into the house for another AH session!

And yet another (Ex) AH member going for a  ride right after quitting Aces High, RAM!
