How many handles do you recognize ???

Use the number 2 pencil provided and make sure you fill the square completely.

Do not open the book until told to do so.

History quiz

Twenty three here.

Twenty four, overlooked Kobra

If yah really wanna play that way....I can scan some old AW score board stuff that I printed out from '90 or '91. :)

(and yah...I recognize more than 20 of them too :))

BTW, we might try to get in touch with Airmigan. He used to have all of the scores from AW starting from tour 5 (in '88 or '89) and going up until about '94. He was a hog for numbers :D.

Can remember most of them , still have the Kiel badge in a drawer somewhere. Kiel was the first scenario in WB.

That list of names probably is a big chunk of the guys that went thru CK beta and into WB

Few of the old names are starting to return  - saw Snak in the arena the other night, had been a long time.

I remember most of them, but then again I was there. :)

Aside from my personal near meltdown between frames, it was a great time. We didn't get the B-17's until a couple of weeks before the event, so we practiced formation flying in heavy P-39's. Hehe. I also learned that the stress of command is not for me...

My fondest memory of Kiel follows (note I was the 303rd BG(H) CO) -

Shortly after hitting the IP the call came out that LW fighters were in the area. Our formation tightened as much as we could, and our close escort engaged.

Target in sight. Call "Bomb bay doors open"

Oh hell, not now...

Number 4 is out. Rudder gone, tail gunner dead. Full power to the other three engines but with bombs still on board I have no chance of staying with the formation.

"Jinx, you have the lead" I pass command to my XO.

It's a sad slow parade as the rest of the group passes by me. I count - one - two - etc - up to 15, good, I am the only one hit.

Coming up on target, and I'm heads down as I see the rest of the groups bombs hit. The subpens disappear in a blaze! Good run!

Now lighter, the group pulls away even faster from me. They are running from home with the escorts once again engaging the bad guys.

Bombs away - looks like I managed to put my bombs on target as well. Doors closed.

Crap. Here they come.

Ball turret gunner dead, lots of holes in my bird. The pair of FW's on me turn for the killing pass.

Until one of them explodes.

Kat- to the rescue! A four ship of P-51's form up on me. The remaining FW runs for home.

For the first time since being hit, I think I might make it.

"You're all clear smut" calls Kat-

It's a long flight back to England (half scale maps!) but we hit the coast together. The little friends break for their base.

I am the last allied plane in the air. Molesworth come into sight.

Gear down, flaps - whoops, no flaps ok this is going to be hot.

Somehow I manage to get down safely. My group is cheering me on.

It was a good day to fly.

Edit: UPDATE - yes, Snak (Pig # 3) is back, as are several other "oldtimer" Pigs. Jinx (my XO in Kiel) is also back.

hey, about 2 years ago a guy flew AH under the handle 0tt0

"Zero" tt "zero".

he was an old pro, part of the whole "big week" thing (dont know what it is, but i heard they have a bulletin board or something still). awsome stick, and a great guy.

he joined our squad for a few months as JB74. taught me a lot, then quit the game. said the gameplay got old, and he usualyl came around every few years to fly for maybe a year.

he talked about Dale, Pyro and a bunch of other vets of the flight sim culture he knew, all good comments. Fester seemed to know who he was, at least talking on text (AH didnt have native VOX back then).

he used to have a website, wiht some graphics of ACM's on them too.

i been trying to figure out who it was forever and give a huge <<>> and TY for teaching me all he did. wish he was still flying.

anyone have a clue who it might be? i'd bet 5-1 he's someone on that list posted.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Yah Horn, BH is missing about 2 years from his scores. Air started recording them at camp 5 and stopped when AW started on AOHELL. I just love looking at the old handles from back then..."Richard Crainium" and "Falcon Icehole" were 2 of my favorites :).

Wow... it's been a while.  I'm glad I could remember my password for this account.

I missed that scenario, but I recognize a significant chunk of the names listed.

Oinks!
