CH Pro rudders....no go :(
« on: July 22, 2004, 02:37:59 AM »
Im all out of ideas :(

Have Cougar Hotas USB (stick/Throttle). Using Bands AH Profile which I rather like (thanks Band) and I have a set of USB CH Pro rudder pedals which were working quite nicely before I reformated by HD and installed Win XP last week.

My KB settings in AH2 are at their default. No changes.  XP recognises the pedals without any drama.  The pedals are new and in good working nic.

However,  when I try to set them up in AH2 in the input screens, theres no responses.  It doesnt seem to give an axis readings, yet outside the game in the calibration tools, they are showing up fine.

Any ideas?  Not having working rudders is getting me killed much more than I like.

CH Control Manger also sees them and calibrates them without any drama.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

its been ages since i went through this, but you need to create a profile for the stick/pedals combo; activate it before starting game. In the game itself you will have to pick each axis and activate it in the setup screen, you will know when you have it right when you can see the x/y values change when you move the axis.

--- pedals for example; select the pedals on the joystick selection window, then click on the rudder to associate the pedals with rudder, then hit apply; the toe brakes are independent axis that you must assign indivually, remember to hit "apply" or your assignment doesnt stick.

Hope this helps jog your memory

Thanks mate. I myself cant program a VCR let alone the cougar :)

I believe Band uses Simpeds with this profile so the profile itself as I understand it, shouldnt interfere with external pedal use.

Ive tried allocating the rudder and toe brakes individually in AH but it just gives me a 0 input reading despite the pedals showing up as being recognised everywhere else outside the game.

Im blowed if I know what to do but thanks for trying. S!

well, I am not familiar with simpeds..did you create a profile in ch manager? You need a profile that combines your stick and the pedals, and you have to have the profile active (forgive me if you know this!) in order for all axis to work together properly in the game.

In the game, do both devices show up?

This can be fixed!

cc Both show up in game but no input from the CH pedals.

I read somewhere that CH proggies wont work with the cougar so I deleted CH control manager (which didnt seem to be doing much anyway) and rebooted.

Same result.  CH Pedals show up in and out of game but no input response ingame.

When I look at the Hotas Cougar control panel it shows the rudder and toe brakes come up as Windows axis but does not highlight them in a green box as it does with the others. (If I had my ISP FTP set up I could post a pic and show you but im rather slow in that regard also LOL)

Appreciate your time to help.

Be sure to assign the axis in AH.

from memory :
clipboard => setup => select joystick => set input

cc thnks Straffo.  Done that tho.

Whilst the CH pedals show up in there, the inputs all remain at "0".

No movement in the pedals is recognises so no input can be set other than "0". :(

So you see the pedals in the game; there are 3 windows for joystick selection -- 1st, click on the pedals; 2cnd, click on the function (toe brake, or rudder, etc); 3rd; click apply; at that point you should see #'s for the axis move. You must repeat for every axis, so you will do this once for rudder, and two more times for the toe brakes..if you see the rudder in the game you should be able to select it. On a fresh game build only one stick is selected, so you must activate add ons like the pedals.

yea, its just a matter of device selection when you setup in AH.
