Question for Texans

Estes is right. For what it pays you get Mexicans that primarily apply for those jobs. It doesn't require a great amount of speaking english to get the job done. Those that are bi-lingual usually rise thru the ranks pretty fast.

how many times do i have to tell you.  You live in the middle of nowhere.  If you live where i live which was close to the airshow spot btw you see them all the time flipping burgers and cleaning toilets.  the white tennagers get all the jobs at stater bros. etc.

  Maybe because Mexico is right across the border and it`s so very easy to get into Texas with the unsecured borders, ya think?
  They can hop into Texas, get a job of  low wages fast, work and take the money home to their family. These low wages when taken back to Mexico equals quite a sum in their country.
  You can`t blame the Mexican people for doing this to assure the survial of their families and to make life a little easier for them. What it does though is make things tough for the blue collar worker in Texas. He can`t compete with the low wages that an illegal will work for.

Perhaps that and 80% of the population being Hispanic. At least it sure seems that way. But I wouldn't make a huge deal out of it. The majority of industrial labor is also Hispanic ... at least round these parts.

the better you fit in the better the job you will have..

fitting in may mean something as simple as speaking the language and being a citizen of the country you are in.  It may simply mean being there legally and having all the right paperwork.  

If you don't have the basics there will be plenty of people waiting to take advantage.

For all of us there is the check cashing place and the rent to won furniture places and the no money down car lots that charge 20% interest and have cars that cost 5 times what they are worth.

If you are illegal, uneducated or a drug addict or gambler or loser who has let his credit slip to nothing... there is an army of people out there willing to fleece you.

 why is it that in the east,north east ,south,just about anywhere but the west ,do you see only whites and blacks doing the jobs you mentioned?   just wondering.

Because no one will hire Americans when there are Hispanics willing to work for less pay.  In other words, they are doing the jobs "Americans won't do"  (for Mexican wages).   Poor, uneducated, unskilled Americans are being pushed aside because the federal gov't neglects its responsibility to control our borders.  Both political parties are guilty in this travesty.

I live in SA, and the same situation is here.  A very large Mexican-American population.  The types of jobs you mention are almost exclusively performed by Mex-American wage workers.  But, I shoudl say that there are many very successfull Mex-American business people as well.  I work in DOD and my boss (Mrs Montalvo) is a GS-14.  She gets "paid".
