No, there's no support yet.

HTC is aware of TIR but they have plenty of more pressing matters to attend to.

FWIW, I also talked to Wayne over at NaturalPoint and he said that he and Dale have been in contact with each other. He (Wayne) is convinced that getting the code written would be relatively easy, so I told him (Wayne) that since HT has so much on his (HT's) plate right now that NaturalPoint should dedicate some programming resources to the job. All in order to sell more units of course. He (Wayne) said they were considering that, but there is no AH-SDK or anything like that.

I am waiting as patiently as I can for the support to be added. TrackIR is a very cool device, and using it in IL2 makes a HUGE difference in both SA and immersion.

I was afraid that I would lose the variable head position in AH when using TIR. There are ways of getting TIR to work in enhanced mode already, but the sensitivity isn't good and most importantly you lose the six view that is achieved by using the keypad views.

Now I've seen a successful implementation of both TIR and variable head position in Targetware's software. They even "stole" the headposition feature from AH, but HTC's way is still the best.

The best of both worlds is possible and doable.

Patience.

Jodgi,

What software is this? I would like to use my Tir2 with ah2 but have hit brick walls with track mapper and tir2joy.  Is there a simple install solution? I am really horrid when it comes to tweaking programs.

I know of no other solution than the tir2joy and trackmapper setups with AH. I've tried them, got them to work and gone back to normal viewkeys.

Trackmapper just gets too disorienting for me. The tir2joy solution doesn't provide a clear six view.

(Targetware is a sim, btw)

I have the trackIR 3 Pro. Because of its speed and the more granular control provided with 3.11 version of the software, TrackMapper works rather well for me. I've had to slow down the response on the axis and make the center dead zone large. But it works and the view transitions are no worse than rapidly snaping your eyes from rear view to side view while driving a car.

I have it from a good source (who asked to not be named) that Native TIR support may be out in the next release. I assume that to mean 2.1 not patch 7. Still no date on that but 2 weeks may not be wrong :D

OK, I admit it - I'm an old fart who has trouble keeping up with these new developments. At least I upgraded my PC for AH2. :p

Can someone please tell me - in 5 lines or less - what IS TrackIR, and why all the fuss about it? Not trolling - just want to know.

Alan> Imagine glancing down to the bottom quarter of your monitor screen and your in-game 'head' looking down at the instrument panel, imagine looking at the left quarter of your monitor and looking over your shoulder or out over your left wing before moving your view quickly to the other side to look at a con as you rolled past him..that is why TrackIR is so much fun to use it increses the immersion.

The TrackIR device is like a web cam that sits on top of your monitor and tracks an adhesive reflective dot that can be fixed to your forehead, glasses frame or mic boom. Worth every penny and I don't fly a sim without it.

OK so that was 6 lines but you're an old fart stuck in your ways and will take more convincing ;)
