12.7mm and others ammo questions

Hi all,
i can't understand why the 12.7mm of a gunner are more effective than 12.7 mounted in fighter <ex: C205>.
A gunner can kill you from more than 800y and i need to hit a fighter 1000 time before he start to smoke from 300y <if only 12.7mm used>.
Gunner have 2x12.7mm and fighter 2x12.7mm but results are extremely different.

10 mins ago i was killed by a Spit ix from about 1k is that possible? 3 ping and my left wing lost <plz dont start to say net delay that is not the case>

I need info plz reply.

I have had the same gripe with other sims but no one seems to listen.  If you look at the historical biographical information about WW2 pilots most all of it indicates that kills were made close.   1000 yards is a long long way to shoot from a rapidly moving plane at another rapidly moving plane.  One would have to gauge the proper lead and also hold your sights above the target.  Frankly maybe the amount of stuff the programmers would have to throw in the code may be too much at this point- but I agree with you-there really should be no kills possible at 1000yards.

All depends on how many gun turrets are tracking you.

We dont have wind or other weather to worry about to effect the travel of the bullets all we have is the air density. which changes and gravity.When a bomber shoots from behind a fighter closes the distance on the bullets along with the bullet racing back towards the fighter. 1000 yds behind is closer to 600 yds adding in the speed of the fighter closing on the bomber.

More lag -> more distance / angle difference.

Remember that lag between you and enemy might be even 2 seconds (woah..)

Some of guys unfortunately flies with even 1200ms connections (which is 1.2 seconds...!)

If you have 300ms lag to server, and enemy has 1 seconds, its 1.3 seconds of lag between you two.

If you're flying straight when enemy comes fast to your 6, you might see him 1k away when in his FE, hes 300 yards or so. (depending on speed)

When you shoot with 12.7mm guns, you have to shoot same area, not around the target.

I have downed B-17 with pair of 13mm in 109G6 or G10..
Only thing I did, I sprayed only it's  right wing. (remember that you'll hit either tip or middle wing, not both)
Hitting wing root might be most effective.

I shoot some tournament and if I can't hit a six inch circle at 1000 yds then I know it's going to be a really bad day. I know this is from a steady platform at a target that ain't moving. The thing is, a couple of friends and I were goofing aroun... I mean doing some tests one day and off hand (read: no rest, no wind indicators, just throw the gun up and shoot) and we were surprised at how well we did. Hitting a 9 inch paper plate at 880 yards wasn't too much of a problem. Now, hitting an airplane, with a wingspan of even 30 feet, at 1000 yrds. With tracers. After a couple of hundred rounds I think I would learn the lead and ballistic adjustments to make to hit the target. Especially if the target was shooting back.

Given all the foregoing factors that come into play, it's amazing that an air-to-air kill gun kill is ever recorded, especially when many of these factors are unknown quantities for the pilot.  Little wonder ttha the most effective technique often is to "fill the windshield with the target and let'er rip."

Not all 12.7mm or 13mm are the same.  In this case the M2 fires a heavier projectile at higher velocity and faster rate of fire than the Breda.  Bomber gunners don't get a longer range or higher lethality, but we do make it a bit easier for them to hit to offset lag effects.

no range adjustment for the buff guns?

I thought HT had said at one point the buff guns had been given a range boost of 3-400 yds to help offset net lag.

No wonder the .50s are furbar'ed.  They're shooting at 500yds and getting the damage figures for that range while I have to shoot at 900yds and get the damage figure for that range.  that seems a tad unfair

Comon certain things have to be historical offset for the Sim to work. I have totally confidence in HTC to put forth a blend of offsets to make for the best flightsim every.

The advantages given to the BUFFs are so perfectly clear I dunno why you guys don't see it.

Buffs relied on either numbers or the cover of night for protection.

People who are getting killed while attacking a buff just had bad excution on attack.
