So, who wants a CT staff position?
« on: July 29, 2004, 06:15:06 AM »
If you are interested in one of the jobs listed by Mister Fork, sound off and let us know what job you would like.  I expect many who will be nominated will not want or be able to take on one of these jobs.  Expressing interest in a thread like this could filter a lot of dead end nominations.

I would volunteer but I am a computer illiterate.  I suppose I could in time, learn.  I would gladly serve in any capacity asked of for the betterment of the community.  My skin is very thick and negative comments wash of of me like water on the back of a duck.  I know my strenghts and weakness and am very comfortable with who I am.  I will however continue to taunt, troll, offend and generally misbehave because it is my pleasure to do so.  If you guys can live with that then I'm game.  If not that's ok too.  I certainly have the time.

I would be interested but I already do CM duty. Sure would be nice to see a few put their hat in the ring though.

Would be nice to see some of the blowhards put their money where their mouth is.........
It ain't no bed of roses.
Would be especially nice to see some of them take their turn, since they know what it's gonna take to fix the CT, make them stick with it a mandatory 6 month term, then evaluate how much effect they had, i.e. increase in attendance in the arena........
My bet would be that the numbers would stay the same, just like they have since the arena was put into play a few years back.
The CT only attracts a select few, it will never be near the MA in sheer numbers of regular players (unless the MA goes down like it does from time to time and then ya see 250+ players, til the MA is back up), and there will always be a vocal crowd who think they have all the answers.
Me, I quit caring anymore.  Ya can't please everyone all the time, no matter what setup ya run, and with the MA style gameplay of late, I decided I'd just rejoin my squaddies in the MA and have fun, without the headaches of having to police the text buffer and deal with players who seemed to get more out of typing insults back and forth, which detracted from MY fun time, which was flying and fighting.

This forum is chock full of threads complaining about this or that.
Seems the time for the complainers to step up to the plate and volunteer for duty is at hand.

Thank you, Arlo, but I lack the basic understanding of computers necessary to perform the task.

I would just like to say that the job requires very little in terms of training to use the CM tools... when I started Brady helped me get my first setup going took about 5-10 mins of explaining and that was enough to basically get the job done... there can be a little more to it than that.  But actually setting up the arena really isn't too difficult.

Not true.

The CM interface;while clumsy; is about as hard as programming a new joystick.

Plus; the CT changes so frequently that your chance to build experience and become routine in the few "teasing" area (Dar settings and country rotation) is actually better than a full scenari CM.

There's a million and one good reasons not to be a CM; but technophobia isn't one of them.

I remember when you porked your PC last time; and a support desk worker talked you through regedit over the phone to get it running again.

Setting an arena isn't as hard as that :)

If that's the only reason that you can give, I'll second the nomination.  You will get over the technical stuff (as seeker said) quickly.  I can't think of anyone better for the job.   In fact, I'd nominate Oldman for for the Grand Tzar of the CT (or whatever the head honcho job title is).
