I'd love to learn to sail, but after reading so much O'Brian, all these fore and aft modern boats don't look that sexy.

But those cruises on square rigged vessels seem a lot of work, and even somewhat dangerous... "you will be required to go aloft" read the trip descriptions... i'm getting fat and lazy, so...

it was great actually. the only electronics i had to use was the microwave once, the VHF and the thingie that measures how much water i have under my keel

Everything else, inc the cellphone was off......bliss.
