That Windows XP setting...
« on: August 01, 2004, 07:53:05 AM »
I know, I know, it's been asked and answered a thousand times before but I can't find the posts.

There is a setting I think in networking that turns off windows messaging in XP (helps reduce pop-ups).

Would someone be kind enough to tell me where and how to do that?

Thank you all so much :).

Go to Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC.  Locate the entry for Messenger. Double click this entry and set it to Stopped and Disabled.

If you want to get rid of messenger for good just go to START-RUN and type this:

rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection BLC.Remove 128 %SystemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf
