Any "Pre-Warbird, Confirmed Kill" pilots?
« on: March 14, 2000, 08:58:00 AM »
I know there are quite a few  here in AH, I'd like to know what handle you used when it was CK, Pre-version 1.11 please only.  Some of the  best  times I had in WB's (CK) was when some of these "old-timers" gave me a lesson or two

I started in V.82 or V.87, can't remember which, I DO know that we had a 'Blue' country for a while, we had to telnet in,and the Zero would  catch  the P38 in a dive easily, the spit was  unflyable, and fights  with "Torq", "8-bal" and "Corn" was  always a training experience  for  me.

I took the handle "spot" unfortunatly, some guy who was an oscar had used it before me,after learning why guys were so eager to clobber me, I wisely became the Semi-invisible PZVG, who has always been around but no one seems to remember

I remember ya  PZVG, I  also remember "spot", I think "spot" became "Manoc" here  in AH and disappeared as  soon  as we went "Pay".  Say, do you remember  the name of the  guy that used to "sing" alot on open channel, and talk about how good the wine was  while he  flew?  hehe, he was too funny!

Well, I used to be farm, a long time ago.  Then farm died in a flying mishap, and Gazoo showed up.

I will start flying AH again, as soon as the W2K mouse bug is fixed.

Anyone ever play Falcon 1.0 By the late Spectrum Holobyte...

You would have to be a old school mac user...

I shouldn't post here (only flew WB from 2.4 to 2.6)... but I just have to reply to YO

Yes Doc, I flew Falcon 1.0 on a friends Mac (5 mb HD, monochroom screen, no joystick)
Was awed by it tho (was back in 1988 or something like that) Holobyte realy started the extensive manual, realistic sim thing

I started in 1.08 (or .09) - late 1995? Don't remember now. Times when Dora was 600lbs underweight and 38 flaps didn't induce any drag. Flew as 1ynx until WB 2.0 came out. Corn was always "that Gold pony up there" about to drop down and kill you...

I started reading some of the info, websites and posts (didn't somebody have a old Newsgroup or something then?) about WB's in the "CK era".

I actually flew a little (sucked horribly, and was nothing more than vulch bait) in 0.99, and then for pay, shortly in the early 1.0X versions but couldn't afford it for long while in college.

My next account was in the 1.06 to 1.07 era, and I had that account up until about 3 weeks ago.

I almost felt like I was killing an old friend when I canceled that account.

Flew WB from .9something until 2.0 came out.  Was on the closed beta team for 2.0, but lost interest when 2.0 was no longer compatable with NT 4.0.  My id was thun and later changed to thdx (1.11).

As for Falcon 1... I was playing it on my Tandy SL1000 in 88.  There was a pc version out there... I know it  In all its 4 color glory.  Needless to say I was first in line when Falcon 3.0 came out

Greets Rip..

13th TAS came to CK from AW DOS in v0.84 if i remember correctly. My handle was dog1. When we dropped the DOS FE and went 3D i took the handle --wd--. And still have this handle to this day in Warbirds. I am keeping my 2 WB account open till i see WB 3.0.

But i only fly HA & S3 events there now. Love what HT and the boys are doing here and where he wants AH to go. Very impressed with the HTC crew. As well as flying with us & updates regularly,i get a ton o kills from clearing his 6
