Great article on IRAQ war news coverage
« on: August 04, 2004, 12:39:02 PM »
This is a great article that puts things in IRAQ in perspective.

I've got to agree with this guy.  As a retired military officer (with resources within the military still), I believe I've been able to keep a clearer, more complete picture of what is happening in IRAQ than what you'll see on the networks or CNN.

"Pro iraq war" people will like this article, "anti iraq war" people probably wont.

True enough, I tend to believe it cause I have heard things from people who were there that back it up.

What a lovley twist of reality that was. People miss trust the the press because it gave a blank check to Bushes lies and this guy presents it as they miss trust the press because they are showing a small part of the struggles in Iraq.
One news agency tells people the news they want to hear and the news the presidency wants them to hear and that news agency is presented as the last bastion of truth in the US media.

Weak wristed liberal intelectuals cannot understand the cult of manly virile satalite technitians that the US military is populated with. lol

Big supprise. Tell somone what they want to hear and they lap it up no matter how rediculous. The press shows bad things about the war in Iraq because they are cowerdly wimps that were picked on by manly conservatives in high school.

I think your reading more into then is there Pongo.

Sure he made light of the "wimpy' reporter, but you have to admit for whatever reason, the news media has a tendancy to report sensational stories, over boring stuff like the power grid is working better.

Coming from NRO, I take it with a big grain of salt, but there is some truth to it. (I think)

My wife's best friend's son is in the guard. He went to Iraq about 2 months ago. I'm sure he is in the food service biz or something like that. Point is, his tentmate was killed a couple weeks ago.

This war has begun to hit home in many ways.

One of our squadmembers and someone many will know as an involved member of the AH community is a NG member working as a firefighter in Iraq.

No real point except to say politics schmolitics.. lets get this thing done so these guys can come home.

Good article.  The press never reports good news.  Except for one item, I think the war was conducted quite well by US/Allies.  Item: We shouldn't have been there in the first place.

what is often seen on tv does not give accurate picture of situation in places like iraq and afghanistan. most common question from iraqi father in shia areas is "you are not leaving soon yes?". also many things happen that not make tv news and when it seems like if something good happen never make tv news you start to wonder. anyone see tv news report of iraqi gunmen in falluja who raid and kill non iraqi terrorist to free truck drivers from jordan that non iraqi insurgent take hostage? they quoted as saying "they were not iraqi and were enemy of free iraq so they were killed".

by "item" you mean "opinion of one citizen" right? :)
