"Night Raid"

The LW is launched in JU88s and BF110s to hit British assets.  The night war takes skill and cunning and the RAF is up to the job of intercepting and destroying the invading bombers and their escorts.

Get a taste of night fighting and possibly change the outcome of the battle.

Spitfire Mk ???


If it is the Spitfire Mk I then the scenario will be a farce.  The Bf110C-4b and Ju88A-4 are both markedly superior to the Spitfire Mk Ia.  The Spitfire is better at running away though.

If you make it 19 Squadron I got a spit1 sittin in the bag. :D

But, dont the Ju88 and 110 outrun the Spit1 easily?  If you were LW, all that you would need to do would be run at full power over the target and then gun it home, wont even need to worry about fighters.  Unless theres a maximum manifold you can run at so that it makes it even.

The icon setting will be short and the RAF will have a radar controller with a three minute delay.

Good Spit pilots working together can cause some damage to the LW.

Spitfire Mk Is lack enough firepower to hurt the Ju88 in anything less than a sustained, multi-second burst whereas the Ju88s can easily amputate the Spitfire's wing with a brief series of hits.  In a shallow dive the Ju88 can nearly match the Spitfire's speed, forceing the Spitfire to attack from behind.

The over accurate bomber guns coupled with the excessively fragile Spitfire wings makes any meeting between the two lopsided in favor of the Ju88s.

The Hurricane Mk I fairs a little better due to durability.

Karnak,

I have to tell you that when I designed an event with Hurri I against the JU87 and BF110, folks were complaining about the Hurri not having enough pizzaz.  This design includes the Spit and it is too early for a Spit V.

If there was an HE111 in the mix, it would be there rather than the JU88.

I will offer both the Spit and Hurri to RAF pilots for the event.  The only issues will be that they need to keep their flights seperate from each other.

Speaking for myself, I would prefer the Spit (with a rear view mirror and landing lights)  :cool:

One of the targets is the Supermarine Works near Southampton, so we have to have some Spits up there, eh.
