Gunner Shot Down?
« on: August 07, 2004, 05:05:14 PM »
HTC...in AH1  when a bomber carried a gunner and the bomber got shot down. The gunner would get a sucessfull landing.
Just completed a flight with a gunner gunning my B17...he got Shot Down message same as me the Pilot.
Was this an intentional change?
And did the Fighter that shot us down get double kills?

i still got that sometimes in AH1. what i really hate is being left in the plane and the pilot is gone somehow. on more than one occassion i have been left in the plane and the pilot was gone. so i'm sitting in the cockpit and cant fly the plane. meanwhile the ground is getting A LOT closer. And in the end I end up getting a death message, even though I was a gunner. Also this happens to me I guess due to lag cause I just continue sometimes straight into the ground directly to the core of the Earth it seems. Don't know what, if anything, HTC will do about it.

Seems to me that if your on that plane when it dies the attacker should get all kills and you a death.

I dont think the refrence to a "KILL" was thought of or meant to be killing the "Pilot" or "Gunner".
The act of shooting down the Aircraft was refered to as a kill. The distiction was that of "Ethics"
So in short....Your getting a kill scored on the Aircraft...and not the persons onboard.
This was a training tactic to help pilots deal with the fact that they were killing People.
Kind of blocking out the truth so they could concentrate on the task.
