game port doesnt work?!?
« on: August 08, 2004, 11:37:56 AM »
i just drove and bought me a new sound card, i have a onboard sound card on the MB but i do not have a Gameport.

i got a creative sound blaster 4.1 digital.

i disabled the on board sound card and poped in the creative one.

results:
when first booting with the new sound card windows recognise and install it by himself - it didnt even used the creative driver cd, which kinda pisses me off.

i get the following massege from the gameport:
Quote
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

any ideas?

I seem to recall Windows XP does not support gameport.  Can't say much more then that.  Don't have XP.  There is allot of threads RE XP and gameport stuff in this section.  Might wanna do a search.
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

You didn't say if you were using XP or not.  You might try disabling the OB sound in the BIOS, since I am guessing you just did it in Device Manager.
