lol a ricer??? LMFAO!

nah bro. Its one of two T72s that now sit infront of a 408 Stroker.

I dont do the ricer things unless Its a bike.

I've been working on this new motor all summer, since mid to late spirng. We just got it in the car two or three weeks ago and tossed it up on the trailer to bring to the dyno to have it tuned. I really didnt want to start melting pistons trying to drive it there and have it lean out.

I doubt it will see the track this summer, still lots of other things to do on the car itself. Re-did the roll cage which is now 12pt NHRA cert, replaced the torque boxes before they ripped out on their own which are now both bolted and welded in. I want to go with a new 4 link suspension set up in rear but will stick with my coil over set up for now. I put mini tubs in it, tubular K-member in the front along with A arms... blah blah blah. Sick of even thinking about this car already! And that is only the begining. Was going to sell it to buy a new cobra, then found a deal on these turbos I couldnt pass up so the rest is history. Now I can eat cobras and will be able to make those Z06's look like little play toys from walmart. :D

Hey Morph.

I have my 408 Iron Block together now also. It will be going in over the winter. I am going back with spray though. It is kinda tight in the f-body for a TT set up.

What kind of numbers are you looking for?

What is it in? I ask because I don't want to assume.:D

You got it bro. F bodys are my favorite. I was really thinking hard on selling it but man, I just love these cars.

408 with spray is sick!

A guy that I see at the track sprays his 408 into low 11's on 10 1/2" slicks with next to nothing for traction at the line.

I built this block for forced induction. Low compression, the rotating assy is all fordged and for the money, time and reseach that went into the short block, it is just about as bullet proof as they come. 4 bolt mains with splayed caps. I am very curious to see how my cam will do. I had lunatti grind me a custom one that favors boost. So, we'll see.

I am looking for low 10's. Guys with very similar setups dip into the low 10s consistantly and have seen the 9's with a little more effort.

This motor replaced a sprayed 331 stroker that I sold to a friend. It pushed my car into the 11s with no problems with a 200 shot. :)

I've always been a fan of juice but when my buddy got a vortec for his 2002 GT and started knocking on my door at the track I had to do something different. And let me tell ya, its been a learning experience to say the least. Many sleepless nights spent in the shop on this one.

PS- what NOS setup are you running? Progressive? You gotta try it if you aren't hehe.

I am running a 2 stage set up at the moment. Just a gathering of parts from different places. It is on a progressive though. Spraying a 200 off the line and hitting it with another 300 2 seconds later with a 2 second progression. It is a real kick in the butt out of the hole.

Best time is a 11.56 with a 1.78 60'. Trapped at 138. Not great but good enough for a street car "for now". We are redoing the entire car this winter and will debut it at Gathering 9 in Atlanta Memorial Day weekend.

We are looking for deep 9's with this new setup.

About your cam grind...I have found the LS series engines don't like split grinds but with a TT go long on the exhaust side. Getting it out will be the biggest problem you will have.

Give me a yell at rburwell@watvc.com maybe we can find a track half way and meet up.

That would be cool.

I the farthest I've ever driven was down to maple grove raceway in PA. It was a long drive from where I am in CT. I mostly play at Lebanon Val. Raceway in NY and Englishtown in NJ. There are a few business men here trying to start a drag strip here in CT. Street racing was so bad  here a year or more back that there were actually people lobbying to open a strip to take us off the streets! lol. I kid you not. We even had a web site up to set up races, talk smack or BS. http://www.thepike.net Which thanks to the wonderful  Conneticut state police has been shut down along with our strip, the Berlin Turnpike on rt15. Now if you even chirp the tires you are at risk of getting a dam ticket. Trust me i know lol.

9s are awsome. I've found that once you do dip into the 9's you are really opening a door to a whole new world. The term "street car" pretty much gets thrown out the window. Altho the beauty of juice is the stupid amount of power it makes when its on.... When its on... And the cool think is its not always ON. But you know what I'm talking about. A 9 sec car on motor is no street car. A 9 Sec car on juice can still be a street car.

I went with TT's because I love how they dont make boost when you are just driving. But when you send the peddle to the mat and the boost hits, it hits like juice (with the right tubos) and sounds sick as hell. Also because there are only a handful of cars worth talking about that have a tubo setup. They are also way more efficient at making power than a supercharger ever could be. No belts, no pullys, no gear driven ATI prochargers, just a fan more or less.

As far as my cam goes its split lift / split duration. I wish I could remember the specs on it off the top of my head but I can't. The lift is big big big, and the duration is still huge but not so big that I wont make power until 4000+ rpm. Its rated at something like 3000-6800... Again if I remember right. A nice broad power range still good for the street and killer at the track. And she will be seeing revs that high and higher once I drive it a few miles and make sure everything's tuned. I've seen some bad nightmares from guys who dont tune a forced induction motor and start beating on it.

The thing I always need to remind myslef is the simple fact that this car will never pay for itself. It will never be more than a tool used to laugh at the porshes ,M3's and Vets (Z06's mainly) around here. So I think this is it for me. If I make it into the 9s with this setup I'm going to be real syked up but if I dont, I wont be doing much more after this to try and get it there if I dont. But I think I will see 9's hehe, I dont want to jinx anything...

btw, 138 is an awsome mph. Its actually an easy 10sec. mph here at sea lvl. What are you crossing the line at rpm wise? Gears? Auto? we need to talk more! Your 60ft time is pretty darn good too.

See what you've done? lol I'll talk for hours on end about drag racing and cars! lol

138 "okay" for a street car

heh heh

You guys have any photos of your rides?

I'd rather see those than the tragically common boobie avatars.

Morph,

Mods do far,
Suspenion and body

Full Spohn suspension
light weight carpet
12 point roll cage thru the firewall to the frame
Fab-9 rear with 4:10 gears and a mini spool
Nitrous drive shaft
race prepped T-56
Spec Stage 4 clutch
Mcleod adjustable master cylinder
QA1 Shocks
Bogart wheel "front 15x4 rear 15x 10.5"
ET streets on the rear and cheapies up front
Still have to upgrade the brakes

Engine at this moment
Forged 347 with Lunati 4340 crank
Eagle H-Beam Rods
Wiseco CNC pistons
Gapless rings
Stage 3 Z06 heads by Patriot
Thunder T-Rex cam
Sheet metal intake
Z06 MAF
K&N CAI
SLP Headers
No cats
SLP loudmouth exhaust
2 Stage home built N2O set up on a progressive controller

The new engine is the source of a whole new topic since we have pretty much hijacked this one. We are planning on coming to Englishtown for the SLP appreciation day hopefully next year. Of course this will require me to run mufflers which I hate.

I will keep you updated on where we will be as the time gets closer.

Have a good one.
Robert

Oh I forgot the numbers...........568 HP and 542 Torque N/A
a little over 700 HP and 790 torque on the first stage. We didn't have the cojones to hit the second stage on the dyno.

Wow! It's nice to hear about all these great toys!  And thank GOD you two aren't into import racing.  I was really worried at first from the look of Morphs new avatard (kinda hard to size up a nice turbo when it's 64X64pix).  I can only say I wish I still had the dough to tinker with real toys.  My last project was a 1983 4X4 S10.  I'm a bit into four-wheelin.  3 inches of lift wit 32 11.50 Thornbirds.  Not too tall, but here's where the fun starts... I ripped out the old 2.8 V6 and slapped a nice lil' 350 in it.  Lunati roller cam, Edlebrock Performer RPM Intake, 650 Holley, some nice heads off a 400 small block (202s i think they were, can't remember the big Chevy Valve size).  Not much motor sized up on in text, but one helluva beast squeezed under the hood of an S10.  Had a great set O fender flares on it to give it a cool lookin stance, and a sweet tweed interior with "4X4" raised on the door panels and a huge Bowtie in the roof.

... I sure do miss White Lightening  :(

Sounds nice Scrap. A mouse motor in a S-10 can suprise alot of people.

The valves you are trying to remember are 2.02, 1.60 int/ext. This is the most common valve size in a perf. SB chevy head.

Have a good one.

I've got an '85 SVO Mustang 2.3 turbo that runs low 12's on street tires and gets 30+ MPG on the interstate with cold A/C blowing.

Its got about 270 HP, but it makes over 360 lb/ft of torque and it makes peak torque at 2800 RPM. :)

God bless american Iron :D

Its too late for me right now I need to be getting to bed!

-Pro-Active tubular front K Member (QA1)
-Front and rear Coil Ovr Conv.
-Wilwood 6 Piston Disc Brakes Frnt/Rear
-Weld Draglite.. 3.5's in front 15x8s rear. Hoosier all the way 8)
-Graphite composit Bumbers fnt/rear (mucho weight saver)
-Removed Beams in doors. (hope I dont get T-boned)heh
-Power stearing gone, AC Gone. Still have killer stereo system tho :P , Heater is gone along with heater core. Rear seat went bye bye after Highschool a loooong time ago. lol...
-Lots of other lil odds and ends.

You already know most of the drive train.

New FMS 351 Windsor block, 4 bolt splayed mains. Bored and stroked to 408 CI.

DDS Forged crank (Knife edged)
Trick Flow Fordged H-beam Rods
8.0:1 Comp. Fordged Pistons/Trickflow .
0-Gap rings.
Lunatti Custom Grind Cam.
Main stud girdle (Pain in arse with splayed caps)
Ballanced and blue printed.
Blocks been filled half way with concrete 8)
Trick Flow R series Alum Heads- Extrude hone ported.
Victor Intake converted for EFI. Flows like Niagra falls.
DFI fule injection.
Fuel injection via Aeromotive.
Alum. drive shaft.
Tremec TKO  5spd with lakewood bell housing. (Its more fun to shift a car)
Ford 9'' with a Strange Inc. Center Section. 4.56:1 gears
And oh yeah... heh.

Custom Twin T72 Turbo set up. B.M.fluff'n spearco intercooler 8) And lots and lots and lots of my valuble time spent tig welding. Hit full boost at about 3000rpm and from there on it sounds like an F15 on TO.

There's just too much garbage to remember.

Dyno'd at 802rwhp and 863 rwtq. The dyno tune didn't go as good as I hoped. It was leaning out up top and we stopped the pull twice to adjust FMU. Thank god for DFI tho. Was able to sit in the car with laptop and basicly get it tuned from there with exception of adjuting base timing and FMU. I will need a Bigger FMU tho when all is said and done.  These #'s are out of 21psi. Once I am content with air/fuel through out the rpm band I'm bumping the boost up from there and put all this expensive junk to work. Most of everything I've done has been a carbon copy of Don Lombardis' TT SN95 mustang here in CT (on a much lesser scale tho) :) . He's pretty much pioneered the way around here for N00bs as far as Turbos and mustangs go. So much of my trial and error in this is non-existant due to him. Can you say 1100+ RWHP? hehe he's a sick man.

Edie: Hit the 2nd stage on the dyno man! lol I saw a prostreet car max out a dyno down here in Milford CT. It hit 1200HP and kept on going up. Who knows where it pulled to lol. But standing in the parking lot I could feel every single exhaust pulse when the thing was sitting there at an idle. Im dying to hear what #'s that beast makes with the 2nd stange :D

hehe Grits. I watched a kid at the track push one of those suckers into the 10s. He beat the living hell out of it and it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before but it runs consistant 10s. I think he has a vid of it up on the net some where. Take off the turbo and a stock honda civic would probably smoke it.

Yup, the 2.3 Ford sounds like an farm tractor with a broken exhaust manifold, but is one of the strongest engines ever. The main bearings are much bigger than a 302. Joe Morgan's Focus wagon has a 1000HP 2.3 with a stock block and stock iron crankshaft.

I also have a Merkur XR4Ti in a similar state of tune to the SVO that I take to "Import" drag races. All the kids in Hondas get mad and want to stop me from racing, but they cant since the car was built in West Germany and is an import in every sense of the word. :)

BTW, I like big nasty V8's too, I have an all original '66 Comet Cyclone GT with a 390, and my Dad has a '65 Mustang K code 289, a '70 Boss 302, a '93 Cobra and a '99 Cobra covertable.
