sf? felt a little guilty but more weird over the satphone time. during the big brawl at mezzy was pretty strange comparison to earlier times. talkin with guys back home who asking us about what wed heard and we tell them "were here right now dude!". that compared to late eightes early nineties where way more cut off from home when away on serious business. got to say that whole deal was beginning of a new era of well done joint ops it really made me feel good compared to some of the "what the shreck were they thinking?" moments from the past. late nineties there were times i couldnt wait to get out actually had to think about it after what i saw in 2001-2002. but at least much easier to stay "in the business" as contractor now. how much longer on ad for you?

bout 3 years left.  Yeah was thinking about the private contracting sector myself.  Some of those civilian contractors in Faluja were close friends of mine.  One of them "grew up" in the army with me.  Sad end to a great guy.  One more reason for payback.
Joint ops have gotten a lot better.  I went on Ocean Venture '95 with the USS Portsmouth and some USN guys out of Guam.  It was disaster.

Things have gotten quite a bit better.

i heard that. Scott was one of my housemates for awhile when he was in va beach. only good thing is they only had a couple of seconds to know it was comin and never felt the worst of it initial fire against their vehicles almost certainly killed every one of them. when you get out check out blackwater its run by operators who still think and make calls like operators not like lawyers. im there now plenty of great non defensive work to be had and they are going to be huge. some guys were worried that bubble was going to burst on good paying work but iraq alone i heard they budgeting for "contract" shooters for next several years at least. i have no doubt you have buddies working in contract land right now just make sure you get personal reference from several guys you trust before you sign with anyone. some great outfits out there and some not so great. a couple of guys took a job with one of the not so greats and didnt read the fine print. they kia afghanistan and the scumbag outfit bosses didnt include shipping them home for burial in "benefits". they were laying in afghanistan for a few days until their families could collect the funds to get them home. by the way how often do you play aces high right now?

Sure.

Be glad to help.  The learning curve in AH is steep and it can be frustrating.  I use Crumpp in the game as well.

I will be in the Combat Theater (CT) tommorrow at 10 pm est.  I fly with a squad JG 54 and like the Historical aspect which means I fly mostly in either scenarios or with the squad.  Not a fan of the chesspiece battles in the Main Arena.  The Squad flys missions and we use the same tactics the Luftwaffe developed.

We fly mostly Luftwaffe Iron which makes the learning curve even steeper.  It also makes it more rewarding when you smack the easier to fly planes like the Spitfire around.

Right now the CT is in a Pacific Air War scenario.  First thing is to know the strengths and weaknesses of your plane.  Then know the enemies.  Fly to your strengths.  Great place to pick up some Air to Air combat knowledge on AH and plane performance is:

Also pick up a copy of:

It's kinda of like the bible of fighter combat.

Look me up in the CT tommorrow.

awmac you have just been educated by an e-4 with four years in. i love it one guy with twenty years on the ground and worried about combat effectiveness and support for the guys in the field says "no kerry". another guy with four years in is worried about money for va instead of burning it to ground and rebuilding it so it isnt such a joke and he says "no bush". take your pick gentlemen. :)

Which Sqd?  333, 334, 335, 336?  We pounded the same ramp I am sure.  I also was fortunate to be in Kobar at the time of the bombing.  A guy took my place because my youngest was sick.  He got a purple heart for getting cut up from some glass.  Nothing serious but they gave him the medal anyway..lol.

anonymous, i guess you need it spelled out:

Mac said: I know that all those who served will vote Bush.

I served, i won't be voting for bush.
I can thing of some other people here who served and won't vote bush either.

Whole thing democrats hate military and republicans love it ( and all people in military vote republican) is bull****.  If you served, you know it.

As for the length of my service, it is my choice. Just as it was to serve in the first place.
And spared me the "poor veteran worried about ...". I haven't seen E7-E9 who didn't spend 3 hours a day talking about how it was just so much ****ing better back in the days and how things are going to ****.
It goes with the job.
