Saitek Evo
« on: August 10, 2004, 08:11:49 AM »
Well, after dying alot with my worn out Sidewinder Pro,
I've finally bought a new stick..the Saitek Evo.  This stick
is a much improvement over my old one.  The old one used
to have rudder "spikes" causing my aim to be deflected
unwantingly.  I have noticed that the new stick has not
really solved another problem I am having and I'm sure
this has everything to do with the scaling.  The prob im having
is nose-bounce.  I finally get on someones six and try to line up
and the plane likes skidding left and right, and nose bouncing up and down.  I tried to get a joystick config. from a friend online
that has an Evo as well, but my Outlook Express is blocking
the download saying something like "OE has blocked yada yada yada" due to being a suspicious file.
I know this is a lot to ask but could someone that has an evo, and not getting nose-bounce, list here what their setting are at for role, pitch, and rudder?  Thanks a bunch!

Ohio I feel your pain

After 2 months of flying AH2 with my Evo, I gave up on it and bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I was having the same problems with nose bounce, and found that constant...and I mean CONSTANT calibration was required.

I suggest you do a search of the "help & training" forum for ack ack's stick scale file. It provided me the smoothest response of anything I tried. If you can't find it, e-mail me at topchef52@adelphia.net and I'll send it to ya.

btw...how's the Browns looking this year? :)

There's an easy fix for that Ohio. Open OE and open Tools on the menu bar. Go to Options and click on the Security tab. In the new window uncheck the 4th box down (under "virus protection" that says "Do not allow........"

Just be carefull not to open any attachments you're not 100% sure of...or recheck the security box after you get your cfg files.

Well, the reason I got the Evo was because my squadleader
is an excellent stick  (overall score under 50 usually) uses
that stick, so I figured it had to be at least "decent".  I not
sure it's a calibration issue, per se, ..i'd tend to believe that
if a certain setting, such as roll, were off, id have a constant
pull to one side etc.   Seems my problem may be in the rudder
scaling.  seems sensitive when i try to adjust my aim using rudder.
Just doesnt seem to want to "fine tune" the aim.  Acts like
I'm jerking the twist stick when I'm not.  Thanks for the OE
advice..I'll check that out.

much expectations for them.  It just gives us a good reason on
Sunday's to get drunk :D .  I will probably be emailing you
sometime this week when i'm free.  Thanks again
